3.1.3.1.- Temperature regulation with broken sensors

The control can detect a fault in the sensors due to a short circuit or open circuit. In
this case, the control will enter a regulation mode with fi xed operating times.
In all cases the refrigerator has priority over the freezer and the defrosting times.

• Broken refrigerator sensor

- Cycles of 15 minutes ON, then 60 minutes OFF.

• Broken freezer sensor

- Time in freezer mode (damper closed) is added to the ON time of the refrigerator.
This is the refrigerator’s time setting in minutes.

• Broken evaporator sensor

• Defrosting will be carried out after every 8 hours of accumulated time.

• The elements will be activated for a fi xed time of 18 minutes.

• The fan will be activated 7 minutes after the compressor.

Important:When a broken sensor is detected in the refri-

If the technician wishes to know the true temperature read by the sensor at that
instant, TSS mode must be accessed.

• Temperature display ranges

Only in digital models:
• Refrigerator: 0 to +9 ºC For temperatures under 0 ºC it will display ‘0’ and for
temperatures over 9 ºC it will display ‘–’.
• Freezer: -10 ºC to -40 ºC. For temperatures below -40 ºC it will display ‘-40’ and
for temperatures over -10 ºC it will display ‘––’.
In LCD models:
• Refrigerator: 0 to +36 ºC For temperatures under 0 ºC it will display ‘0’ and for
temperatures over +36 ºC it will display ‘36’.

temperatures over +36 ºC it will display ‘36’.
3.1.4.3. Cold barrier broken alarm
Affects the freezer compartment. It is activated when the freezer sensor detects a
temperature over -12 ºC (T >-12ºC).
The aim of the cold barrier broken alarm is to warn the user that the freezer
compartment has heated up excessively.
The digital models have a red pilot led that warns about this situation. The LCD
models have an alarm icon. All the models also beep to additionally indicate the
alarm situation. This beeper has an intermittent sequence: it beeps for 0.5 sec ON
and 0.5 sec OFF, then remains on for 5 min, and silent for 10 min.

Description of operation

This will continue until the temperature drops below the cold barrier.
If the Super-Frost button is pressed during an alarm situation where the LED is fl
ashing and the alarm is beeping, the acoustic alarm will be deactivated (not
following the 5 min. ON / 10 min. OFF) and the alarm LED will return to steady (i.e.
will not fl ash). This will continue until the temperature drops below the cold barrier.
If Super-Frost is deactivated before the temperature drops below the cold barrier,
the alarm LED will remain lit (not fl ashing) and the acoustic signal will NOT be
reactivated.
If this has not been corrected within 12 hours after Super-Frost is pressed, the alarm
procedure will be restarted from the beginning (fl ashing LED and active acoustic
signal).

When the appliance is turned on, until the temperature drops

I below the cold barrier, the alarm pilot light will light up, but not
flash, and the acoustic signal will not be activated.

3.1.4.4. Temperature regulation on start-up

When the appliance is connected to the mains, it follows this sequence:
1.- The control measures the temperature of the battery sensor:
1. 1.- If temp. battery sensor < 0 ºC.

It begins a defrosting cycle.

1.2- If temp. of battery sensor ≥ 0 ºC.

The fan and compressor are activated. The damper remains closed so that all the
cold air is sent to the freezer. When the freezer sensor detects a temperature of 0
ºC, the damper opens to allow air into both compartments.

3.1.4.5. Normal mode temperature regulation

Once the start-up has fi nished, the appliance adjusts itself based on the selected
temperatures and the corresponding TON and TOFF temperatures.
• Start/stop temperatures for the refrigerator compartment:
Set temp +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 +8 +9
TOFF +0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 +8
TON +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 +8 +9 +10
• Start/stop temperatures for the freezer compartment:
Set temp -17 -18 -19 -20 -21 -22 -23 -24
TOFF -18 -19 -20 -21 -22 -23 -24 -25
TON -14 -15 -16 -17 -18 -19 -20 -21
Regulated temperature tolerance is +/- 1ºC.

In normal mode the refrigerator has priority over the freezer, unless the freezer is
above -12 ºC; in this case, the freezer would have priority.
The status of the damper is decided according to the the requirements of the
compartments:
• If only the freezer needs cooling, the damper will be closed.
• If only the refrigerator needs cooling, the damper will be open.
• If both compartments need cooling and the freezer is below –12 ºC, the damper
will be open.
• If both compartments need cooling and the freezer is over –12 ºC, the damper will
be closed.
• If neither of the compartments need cooling, the damper will be closed.
3.1.4.6. Battery defrosting
This function gets rid of frost accumulated on the battery. This function has priority
over the regulating the compartment temperatures; while the defrosting function is
on, the system stops cooling.
The defrosting process is divided into 3 stages:

19
technical

Description of operation

First stage: Deactivation of loads and damper in freezer position

Compressor: OFF
Fan: OFF
Damper: closed

Defrosting: Elements activated.

• First 3 minutes: Elements ON for 10 seconds, OFF for 10 seconds
• After 3 minutes: Elements ON

The defrosting ends when:

Battery Sensor Temp = +10 ºC
Minimum time: 12 minutes
Maximum time: 22 minutes

Starts to cool: The compressor is activated to cool the battery.

Compressor: ON
Freezer fan: OFF

When the battery is cold:

Battery Sensor Temp = -15 ºCor after7 minutes
Compressor: ON
Freezer fan: ON

• Time between defrosting periods

The time between the defrosting periods varies depending on how long previous
defrosting periods have lasted and the conditions of use (how much the doors were
opened and how many hours the compressor has operated for). The minimum time
between defrosting periods is 4 hours and the maximum is 18 hours.

3.2.4.- AUTOTEST Mode
This is the electronic card’s special mode, designed to be used during manufacture.
It consists of a functional test that lasts about 1 hour. The components and
temperature sensors are checked. It is only carried out when the card is switched on
for the fi rst time, if the compartments are warm (over 10 ºC).
The Auto-test programme is carried out in the following sequence:

Phase 0.- Compressor ON for the fi rst 10 sec. The damper has a cycle of opening
and closing. (Time = 10 sec.) Phase 1.- It activates the defrosting elements and
checks that the battery sensor warms up. (Time = 6 min.)
If this step is not carried out correctly there will be an Element Error.

Phase 2.- It activates the compressor with the freezer fan stopped and checks that
the battery sensor cools down. (Maximum time = 11 min.)
If this step is not correctly carried out there will be a Compressor Error.

Fase 3.- It activates the fan with the compressor on (damper closed) and checks
that the battery sensor warms up. (Maximum time = 4 min.)
If this step is not correctly carried out there will be a Fan Error.

31
technical

Description of operation

Phase 4.- Maintains the situation until minute 46, counting from the beginning of the
autotest.
It checks whether the sensors have been swapped round; if the refrigerator sensors
cools more, there will be a Sensors Interchanged Error.
The damper opens to cool the refrigerator. A check is made that the battery sensor
heats up. (Maximum time = up to min. 50 after the autotest begins.) If this step is not
correctly carried out there will be a Damper Error.

• End of Autotest: If the autotest fi nishes correctly, the appliance will operate as
normal. The autotest OK indicator will be displayed for 4 hours. If an error occurs,
the appliance displays the error and remains inactive.

• Cancelling the autotest: To exit autotest mode, press any button or open and
close any door 6 times.

• Restarting the Autotest: The Autotest can be restarted, so that it will be run the
next time the appliance is switched on when the compartments are warm.
• Digital and LED models: press both “Super” buttons for 3 seconds.
• Mini LCD model: press both “+” buttons for 3 seconds.
• Maxi LCD model: press all 4 buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.
