Quote (Blog Post #3)

Quote from the video “Genocide”: “I bless every day that I live, because every day
that I live is pure profit.”
● My interpretation of this quote is that every day is a blessing for these survivors
○ Each day the survivors are able to live freely is equivalent to obtaining/making
a profit
■ To be able to wake up, have a roof above their head, have a meal on
their plate, and live a peaceful day is very valuable to these survivors
because for many the ability to do this was taken away in the
concentration camps during WWII
● I also see this quote as a reminder to be grateful and thankful
○ We are all guilty of going through each day like it’s nothing
■ Many of us are able to easily and confidently say that we have
tomorrow, a new day, ahead of us
■ We are accustomed to the things that surround us
○ Oftentimes, we get so wrapped up in life that we forget to be thankful
■ All of the things we take for granted on a daily basis are things that
many of the people in the video did not get to experience because
their lives were taken away from them in the most brutal ways
■ It’s almost weird to think that the list of things that we should be
grateful for could go on forever
● We’re able to go to school, enjoy delicious meals, wear clean
clothing, drink clean water, hang out with friends, come home
to a caring family and a cozy home
○ After watching this video and hearing this quote, I think I have gained a
greater appreciation for many things
■ Going forward, I would like to use this quote as a reminder to focus on
the positives and be thankful for the opportunity to live another day
