Define the Problem
Design Brief

Design Intentions

Glasses are fragile pieces of equipment that are available and

required in many fields of life. The problem is that the
transportation for them is both uncomfortable and run the
risk of destruction of the glasses. Our design will bring both
consumer comfortability and satisfaction as it proposes
multipurpose compatibility with multiple glasses.

Design Matrix

We picked three of our

designs and we ran it
through the design matrix.
Then we saw which one
was the best on the design
matrix and that was the
one we picked.
10
Justification for Solution Path
Justification
We choose this design as our final
design since it is a simple shape
with parts that will make it easier,
more efficient, and more
dependable to use. Some of the
parts are the lock on the front, the
attachment system that the string
will go through so it hangs, and
finally a hinge so it is simple but
efficient. Finally to make it visually
appealing to our customers you can
customize the top to say whatever Josiah´s prototype design
you want. 12

Evidence Of Criteria
Met
The case must be able to hold most glasses.

Seen here the case must be suited

to hold several forms of glasses.
From prescription glasses to
recreational sunglasses, The case
offers a multitude of usability.
Allowing for easy customization of
the case itself to allow the case to
offer a durable way to transport your
assigned glasses.

23
The design must allow easy insertion of the sunglasses into the case such that it requires an
average user 15 seconds or less to secure the glasses/sunglasses in the case.

24
The design must protect the sunglasses from a fall of at least 10 feet high.

25
The case must fit in the pouch of the computer bags
found at South Western High School.

26
The case must be visually appealing to consumers.

The case is fully customizable on

what it says on the top so it can fit
whoever buys it. Also the shape is
simple and flowy so that when you
see the case it sticks out. Names
of the type of glasses can be
inscripted as well to allow easy
identification.

27
The design must have at least the dimensions 7”x3”x2” with a
.05 inch tolerance of all dimensions so then it fits most
sunglasses.

Due to having to make the size of the case smaller it

doesn’t fit this constraint. The size was decreased as to
reduce the cost of filament used (we removed
unnecessary space)

28
The cost of the case is under $4.

Evaluate The
Solution
Peer Reviews

Our group and Eric, Colby, Jeremy, and Connors group

did peer reviews for our designs and through testing all
of our constraints and criteria they said our design fits
those criteria and is a actual working prototype.

31
Peer Reviews
We interviewed three anonymous students in Mr.
James's prd:4 Woodshop. Each student agreed
that are product would be an effective and cheap
solution towards the protection of workshop
sunglasses. Looking a the product from the
consumer/average wearers perspective, Mr. Picture
James believed that maybe our designs were
worthy of a possible investment, however, there
is room for improvement. He specifically shared
concerns that the clip on the case could snap
easily and that a magnet could be used as a
substitute for our current locking mechanism,
leaving a 75% with yes and 25% with no or 32
uncertainty.
Team Rubric
Project Grading
● The overall project itself was made with
both a sense of professionalism and
urgency. Each step in the design process
was either a unanimous decision or a well
thought conversation. Each team member
was assigned a particular role and they
completed their role with great
satisfaction while being on schedule. The
target client was anyone that uses and
carries glasses around. We were able to
test this in multiple criteria as we each
gave a different perspective.
34
Presentation Grading
● As a team we went through each step of
the integrated design with well thought
out layout and captivating statements.
Each part gives a detailed look and
walkthrough of our processes and
changes to the product.
