Aguinaldo Elementary School celebrates Earth Day 2021

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated every 22nd of April . It is an annual event celebrated
promote environmental awareness and create in us the desire to protect and help our environment
in our own little way.

Little did we know that Earth Day started in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issue.
It was started by Senator Nelson Gaylord of Wisconsin USA, who believed that our planet is at risk.
The first Earth Day was designed as “teach-in” to educate participants on the importance of
environmental conservation. Overtime, it has grown into a global movement that raise awareness on
environmental issues.

In our own little way we at Aguinaldo Elementary School, took part in this annual event. This years’
event was initiated by our own Student Pupil Government (SPG). There was a school and community-
wide clean up and gardening/planting that happened in school campus and in our pupil’s own back and
front yard.

Furthermore, in consonance with this clean up drive and gardening activities a slogan and poster-
making contest was held which also aims to create awareness amongst our students on the importance
of preserving and protecting our environment.
