Last weekend, I visited my pen pal’s house. His Name is Anto. There were many activities I did there.

There is a big bird cage in the garden. There were many kinds of birds in that cage. I spent a long time
feeding the birds. I also took pictures with those beautiful birds.

After visiting the bird cage, Anto and I went to the flower garden not far from his house. We took a

Last holiday, I went to Surabaya with my friend for vacation. We went there on a night bus.

When we arrived in Lamongan, the bus stopped at a small restaurant for a rest. I got off the bus to
get a cup of ginger tea, and my friend drank some cold lemonade. Then I went to the toilet. It took
only a few minutes.

When I came out again, the bus was not there. It had gone! My friend was not there too. Feeling
shocked and confused, I asked a waitress about the bus. She said that the bus departed about five
minutes ago.

I tried to call my friend on my cell-phone, but the battery was running low. I could not do anything
but hope and pray. After several minutes, my wish came true. The bus came back! I got on the bus
and walked to my seat.

I was so ashamed when everybody on the bus looked at me. I could feel my face turn red.

Grandpa’s Birthday

It was my Grandpa’s birthday last Sunday.


On Friday, my sister and I went shopping. We found a nice Batik shirt. We bought it and
wrapped it in a blue paper. Blue is my Grandpa’s favourite colour.

On Saturday morning, my brother and I were in the kitchen. We made a birthday cake.  It was a
big and beautiful. I wrote Happy Birthday on it. We put some chocolate on it and a big candle on
top of it. On Sunday evening, we had a party. My uncle and my aunt came to my house. They
brought some cake and flowers for my Grandpa. We sat together in our living room. My Dad
said a beautiful prayer. Then, we sang “Happy Birthday” and my Grandpa blew out the candle.
He cut the cake and gave it to everybody in that room. He opened his present and he was very
happy with the shirt.

Finally, my grandma told us some stories about my Grandpa.

Cinderella

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Cinderella. She lived with her step mother and
two step sisters. The step mother and her two daughters didn’t like Cinderella. They treated Cincerella
very bad. Cinderella usually did the hardest works in the house; such as scrubbing the floor, cleaning the
pot and pan and preparing the food for the family, and so on.
One day, a ball was to be held by the royal family of the kingdom to find the Prince’s spouse.
Cinderella wanted to go to the ball but her step mother asked her to stay at home and did the house
works. Cinderella cried sadly. Then there was a fairy godmother standing beside her. “Why are you
crying, Cinderella?”, the fairy godmother asked. “Because I want to go to the ball but my step mother
insists me to stay at home. Besides, I don’t have any beautiful dress” said Cinderella.
Then the fairy turned Cinderella’s ugly dress became the most beautiful dress with beautiful
glass shoes. The fairy also turned a pumpkin into a parking coach and the mice become six white horses.
Cinderella fiinally could go to the ball but she had to come back before midnight before the spell ended.
At the ball, Cinderella amazed everybody there include the Prince. The Prince asked her to
dance. Cinderella had a wonderful time at the ball. But, all of a sudden, she heard the sound of a clock,
the first stroke of midnight. Remembered what the fairy had said, Cinderella ran back to go home. But
she lost one of her glass shoe in ballroom. The Prince picked up it and would search for the girl whose
foot fitted with the glass shoe.
A few days later, the Prince proclaimed that he would marry the girl whose feet fitted the
glass shoe. Her step sisters tried on the glass shoe but it was too small for them, no matter how hard
they squeezed their toes into it. In the end, the King’s solder let Cinderella try on it. She stuck out her
foot and the page slipped the glass shoe on. It fitted perfectly.
Finally, she was driven to the palace. The Prince was overjoyed to see her again. They were
married and lived happily ever after.

The Legend of Malin Kundang

          A long time ago, in a small village near the beach in West Sumatra, a woman and her son lived. They were
Malin Kundang and her mother. Her mother was a single parent because Malin Kundang's father had passed
away when he was a baby. Malin Kundang had to live hard with his mother
          Malin Kundang was a healthy, dilligent, and strong boy. He usually went to sea to catch fish. After getting
fish he would bring it to his mother, or sold the caught fish in the town. One day, when Malin Kundang was
sailing, he saw a merchant's ship which was being raided by a small band of pirates. He helped the merchant.
With his brave and power, Malin Kundang defeated the pirates. 
         The merchant was so happy and thanked to him. In return the merchant asked Malin Kundang to sail with
him. To get a better life, Malin Kundang agreed. He left his mother alone. Many years later, Malin Kundang
became wealthy. He had a huge ship and was helped by many ship crews loading trading goods. Perfectly he
had a beautiful wife too. When he was sailing his trading journey, his ship landed on a beach near a small
village. The villagers recognized him. The news ran fast in the town; “Malin Kundang has become rich and now
he is here”. An old woman ran to the beach to meet the new rich merchant. She was Malin Kundang’s mother. 
        She wanted to hug him, released her sadness of being lonely after so long time. Unfortunately, when the
mother came, Malin Kundang who was in front of his well dressed wife and his ship crews denied meeting that
old lonely woman. For three times her mother begged Malin Kundang and for three times he yelled at her.
At last Malin Kundang said to her "Enough, old woman! I have never had a mother like you, a dirty and ugly
woman!" After that he ordered his crews to set sail. He would leave the old mother again but in that time she
was full of both sadness and angriness. Finally, enraged, she cursed Malin Kundang that he would turn into
a stone if he didn't apologize. Malin Kundang just laughed and really set sail.
          In the quiet sea, suddenly a thunderstorm came. His huge ship was wrecked and it was too late for Malin
Kundang to apologize. He was thrown by the wave out of his ship. He fell on a small island. It was really too late
for him to avoid his curse. Suddenly, he turned into a stone.
