Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab luxury hotel in Dubai is the shortest skyscraper on my list at 1,053 feet (321
m) and only 53 above-ground floors. But its construction on an artificial island, the 590-
foot-tall atrium inside, magnificent suites that range from 1,820 to 8,400 square feet (169 to
780 square meters), and its unmistakable resemblance to the sail of a ship make this one of
the most stunning skyscrapers in the world.

My least favorite among the world’s top 100

Eton Place Dalian Tower 1

Standing in Dalian, China, this building is just boring. Completed in 2015, and currently the
46th tallest in the world, it looks like something straight out of the 1980s, not the 2010s.

The ugliest skyscraper

Shun Hing Square

It does have uniqueness, like a giant spaceship that just landed in Shenzhen, China. It also
has height, ranked the 45th tallest in the world. But wow, it must be the ugliest skyscraper in
the world. That horrendous appearance alone made it score nearly as low as Eton Place in
the overall rankings.
