Short Description
An overview on the application of multiphase reactors in the pharmaceutical industry will be provided.
The influence of mixing on fast chemical reactions will be discussed. The students will gain advanced
skills in the conceptual design, calculation and simulation of multiphase reactors and will be able to use
the acquired knowledge in practice.

- Flow and Mass Transfer in Gassed Stirred Tanks
- Trends in the Modeling of Multiphase Systems
- Numerical Simulation of Multiphase Systems

Expected Knowledge of the Participants


Basic skills in reaction engineering and particle technology desired.

Language
Lecture Notes will be provided in English. Presentation and exercises can be given in
German or English.

Time
The course starts March 4th 2010 (12.00 a.m., HS i6, Inffeldgasse 25, 1st floor, room
MD01180G). Lessons are planned to be given on Thursdays.
