I. General Description
The gearbox is a five-speed manual gearbox. All gears are provided with a synchronizer
except the reverse gear. The reverse gear is fixed onto the shaft and the reverse idler
wheel is supported by the reverse idler wheel shaft. The gearbox body is made of cast
iron and has roller bearing hole and bracket on it. The gearbox body consists of two parts.
Caution: The gearbox output shaft can only be repaired as a whole but can’t be
disassembled and assembled. Otherwise, the gearbox will possibly be damaged.
Note: different driving ratio will be used on the gearbox when the car is traveling in
different traffic conditions. Therefore, the selected gearbox assembly components
shall be correct during maintenance, improper part number will affect the driving
ratio of the gearbox.
Caution: the gear and shaft of one gearbox are not interchangeable with those of
another gearbox; otherwise, the gearbox will not function properly.
The differential assembly is supported by a needle roller bearing.
Driving ratio:
First gear: 3.50
Second gear: 1.95
Third gear: 1.36
Fourth gear: 0.97
Fifth gear: 0.81
Reverse gear: 3.42
Final ratio: 4.12
Reverse brake: Yes
V. Filling Lubricant
Note: all Manual A15 gearboxes are required to use ATF+4 Automatic Gearbox Oil. No
gear oil and engine oil is allowed. Application of incorrect gearbox oil will result in
difficulty in gear shifting and troubles in bearing, gear and synchronizer.
Except the aforesaid gearbox oil, no other oils are recommended to be filled into the
gearbox as they will possibly affect the performance of oil seals.
Please refer to Gearbox Maintenance for the filling of gearbox oil.
