which value specific agreements with employers governing wages, working conditions and benefits. In
short, it allows future employees in the tourism and hospitality industry to become aware of their rights.

Liquor licensing law is placed for the government to enforce laws regarding the service of
alcohol that’s usually viewed to be difficult to police. Establishments within the tourism and hospitality
industry are subject to these laws. It includes a variety of liquor license which can range from restaurant,
retail, beer and wine, tavern, and even server license. The license can vary from establishments to
establishments and also, jurisdictions just like in USA where the licensing differ from states to states.

For me, I see this law as an important legal authorization as this ensure the safety of both
employees and guests. We all know that being intoxicated can sometimes get out of hand most
especially if the person can’t handle alcohol or does not know their maximum alcohol tolerance. If we
allow all establishments to serve alcohol without license, we cannot place any liability to the owner
when things get out of hand. It also forces the tourism and hospitality industry to police establishments.
This is why sometimes, getting a liquor license is hard for a business owners because there are a lot of
things to consider before being granted with one. Even having bartenders need a separate license to
make sure that the person serving alcoholic beverages have undergone proper training.

Seeing myself in the tourism and hospitality industry in the next five to ten years, it is important
to be familiar with liquor licensing law. This will help me familiarize with the processes, regulations, and
liabilities we have as an employee or as the business owner. We have responsibilities to guests that
must be in line with laws imposed for safety and regulation.
