Urban sustainability  ability of a city to survive and prosper indefinitely

 Since World War II, new questions of urban security have come to the fore, with the dramatic
change from the city as a protective enclave to the city as a prime target of mass destruction

 Urban growth was the result of the invention of agriculture and of the surplus of food it produced.

 Bio-soma components offer us a variety of possibilities in addressing the challenges

 Challenges are significant to the economically poorer countries

 They include cheaper and faster construction, ‘green’, that is, energy-, material- and environment-

saving construction
