REACTION PAPER IN TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management methodology that focuses on customer loyalty in
order to achieve long-term success. All members of a company engage in a TQM initiative by working to
improve procedures, goods, services, and the community in which they operate. Value is also a priority
of Total Quality Management, which ensures that customers' desires and expectations are met. Product
features and the absence of flaws will also help to satisfy customers. The production of the
organization’s operation is called the product. It may be a product or a service.

TQM, or Total Quality Management, has eight key concepts or elements:

 Total employee involvement – Employee should be involve and its day to day operation and also

should know the company’s product so it could translate to the goal of the company and its

employee.

 Process centered – A fundamental part of TQM is a focus on process thinking. A process is

a series of steps that take inputs from suppliers internal or external and transforms them into

outputs that are delivered to customers.

 Integrated system – Everyone must understand the vision, mission, and guiding principles

as well as the quality policies, objectives, and critical processes of the organization. Business

performance must be monitored and communicated continuously.

 Strategic and systematic approach – A critical part of the management of quality is

the strategic and systematic approach to achieving an organization’s vision, mission, and goals.

This process, called strategic planning or strategic management, includes the formulation of a

strategic plan that integrates quality as a core component.

 Continual improvement – It’s the continuous improvement of the product and quality

manufactured by the company to provide the needs of its customer.

 Fact – based decision making – To know how well the organization is performing you

have to have an data analysis to provide solutions in improving the product or if there’s a problem

in a certain product like decrease in sales. Or to know if you’re performing good.

 Communication – One of the most important thing in organization’s day to day operation.

There’s also the Deming’s 14 points so that managers would transform their business effectively and
also
his philosophy that by adopting appropriate principles of management, organizations can increase
quality

and simultaneously reduce costs.

While Juran’s Philosophy is focused on achieving high product quality and it has 3 quality trilogy:

 Quality planning

 Quality control

 Quality improvement

Another philosophy in TQM is Crosby’s philosophy in which quality means conformance to requirements
Not elegance. And Crosby has its basic elements of improvement such as determination, education and
Implementation.

In conclusion Total Quality Management helps provide better system for managers of the company and
Also for the company in setting their goals for long term goals. It also provide a lot of improvement in
Providing customers wants and needs and helping them save more time also in producing their product
Just by following the philosophy of Total Quality Management. Therefore, Total quality management Is
