This Operator’s Manual and Parts Catalog has been prepared for ZAXIS70 and ZAXIS75US-A Hydraulic Excavator equipped
with Short Reach Front Attachment. This Operator’s Manual and Parts Catalog contains only information different from
those of the standard ZAXIS70 and ZAXIS75US-A models. Refer to the Operator’s Manual and the Parts Catalog for ZAXIS70
and ZAXIS75US-A Hydraulic Excavators for information other than those described in this manual.

PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION

As to general precautions for the operation of hydraulic ex-
cavators, refer to the separately issued Operator’s Manual for
ZAXIS70 and ZAXIS75US-A Hydraulic Excavators. Only precau-
tions required for the short reach front attachment model are
described in this section.

Precautions for Operation of Loader Front Attachment

1. Digging or dumping soil with the bucket cylinder fully
extended may cause the cylinder to receive excessive M1CD-SR1-003
loads, possibly resulting in adverse effect on the cylinder
and other machine sections. Accordingly, when digging
or dumping soil with this machine, be sure to operate
the bucket cylinder with a small amount of allowance re-
maining before the cylinder stroke end.
2. Do not raise the base machine off the ground with the
bucket rolled back beyond the arm position. When dig-
ging ground area close to the machine, take care not
to fully extend the bucket cylinder. If forcibly operated,
a safety valve in the bucket cylinder circuit is activated
so that the cylinder is fully stroked, possibly damaging
the cylinder. Operate the machine with sufficient care to
avoid these kinds of troubles.

Precautions for Operation of Backhoe Front Attachment

1. Digging soil with the arm cylinder fully extended may
cause the cylinder to receive excessive loads, possibly
resulting in adverse effect on the cylinder and other ma-
chine sections. Be sure to operate the arm with a small

Common Precautions for Both Loader and Backhoe Op-
eration
1. This machine can dig or scrape ground under the track
frame. However, After the machine digs or scrapes
ground lower and close to the base machine with the up-
perstructure diagonally rotated toward the crawler, when Use care!
the boom is raised, the bucket may come in contact with
the track frame. When required to perform this type of
work, operate the bucket or the boom after moving the
bucket away from the base machine.

2. The arm cylinder is located under the boom. The arm

cylinder may come in contact with ground to be dug as
illustrated below. Take care not to damage the cylinder.

3. If excavation is performed while traveling the machine
with the bucket inserted into ground, all machine sec-
tions will be overload. Absolutely avoid this method of
excavation.

4. If the upperstructure of the machine is swung with the

arm cylinder and the bucket cylinder retracted, the buck-
et may come in contact with the crawler. Be careful not to
cause this trouble.

Inverse Installation of Bucket

Inverse installation of the bucket can be made by follow-
ing the same procedures as applied to the standard model.
Refer to the “Inverse Installation of Bucket” group in the OP-
ERATING THE MACHINE section explained in the Operator’s
Manual for ZAXIS70 and ZAXIS75US-A Hydraulic Excavators.

MACHINE LIFTING PROCEDURES

CAUTION: Pay attention to the following points.

1. Use lifting wire ropes and other lifting tools strong

enough to lift the machine with no damage or deteriora-
tion.
2. Contact your nearest dealer for correct lifting procedures,

3. Before lifting the machine, move the pilot control shut-
off lever to the LOCK position so that the machine does
not accidentally move.
4. Incorrect lifting procedure and/or incorrect wire rope at-
tachment will cause the machine to move while being
lifted, resulting in machine damage and/or personal in-
jury.
5. Do not apply shock loads to lifting wire ropes and tools. 500 mm

6. Do not enter the space under or near the lifted machine.

7. The gravity center shown in the figure corresponds to
that for the standard model. Take care that location of the Gravity center position

1. After fully extend the bucket and arm cylinders, slowly
lower the boom.

the lifting wire ropes do not come in contact with the
machine when the machine is lifted. Cover the wire ropes
with soft material such as cloth as required to prevent the

5. Locate a crane in an appropriate position for lifting.
6. Thread the wire ropes through the front and rear points
