1- Fill the gaps with the correct form of the verb in brackets.

a) If a deer got into your garden, it would eat (eat) all your plants

c) If I were you, I wouldn’t open (not open) that umbrella inside the house. It’s bad luck!

2- Rewrite the following sentences using the second conditional.

a) It’s raining, so we can’t have lunch outside. = If it was rain, we wouldn't have lunch outside.
b) I’m busy, therefore I won’t come with you. = If I was busied, I wouldn't go come with you.
c) This book is too expensive, so I’m not going to buy it. = If this book too expensive, I wouldn't go to buy it.
d) It’s cold, so we won’t go to the beach. = If it was cold, we wouldn't go to the beach.
e) I won’t call him because I haven’t got his phone number. = If I didn't get his phone number, I couldn't call him.

3- Use your own ideas to complete these sentences.

a) If you took more exercise, you would have a well body.


b) Would you go to the party if you did your homework?
c) If you smoked a cigarette around me, I'd go the other way.
d) If I didn’t have to work tomorrow, I would sleep late.
e) I’d be extremely happy if you stayed with me.
f) If I were Prime Minister, I wouldn't steal to the city.
g) If I could go anywhere in the world, I'd go to Canada.
4- Give advice using “If I were you…”. Use the expressions below.

a) Your friend hasn’t been feeling well lately. = If I were you, I would say to see a doctor.
b) Your brother wants to lose weight. = If I were you, I'd say him to don't eat so many sweets.
c) Your friend has a headache. = If I were you, I would take an aspirin.
d) It’s a cold evening. Your sister is leaving the house in a T-shirt. = If I were you, you wouldn't let her go out without
putting on a jacket.
e) Your classmate has been having nightmares recently. = If I were you, I would recommend that you don't watching
so many horror movies.

5- Combine the sentences in each item into one sentence. Use the second conditional.

6- Writing.

If you could change something about your life, what would you change? Write a short paragraph.

If I could change one thing in my life, it would be my studies. I would like to make them precencial and
not virtual.
