Expro CoilHose Case Study #1

Unloading Of Two Exploration Wells Prior To Well Test

Expro’s CoilHose Customer Challenge Value to Customer

technology provides a • Well unloading of two exploration • Unloading of two exploration
cost efficient and time wells was required prior to a well wells within 48 hours prior to
test operation well test
saving solution for well
• The customer had planned both • Due to the footprint of the
unloading operations exploration wells to be unloaded equipment, spotting and
prior to starting well test program preparation is done off critical rig
time and in parallel with ongoing
• A full well test package and operation
slickline equipment limits the
available space onboard • Operational and critical rig time
was significantly reduced as the
Expro Solution rig-up time is quick and similar to
slickline
• Expro proposed our new
CoilHose service as a • Moving between wells is
replacement for Coiled Tubing to achieved within hours as the
unload the wells using nitrogen PCE is small and can be stored
injection on rig floor while skidding to new
well
• CoilHose offers a rapidly quick
rigging time compared to CTU
which was key when planning to
move between two wells

• CoilHose was selected by the

client as the preferred solution
over Coiled Tubing based on it’s
cost saving and track record

CoilHose Case Study #1 - Problem

Re-activation of Failed Down Hole Safety Valve Solutions

• Well closed in due to failure

valve. Not able to achieve

an inflow test
+
• Scale build up from below
DHSV to surface
• Normal approach to solve this type of scale problems is with
• DHSV depth: 470 mMD slickline and by the use of broach and brush.
• Over 1.7 m3 of carbonate • In some cases dumping of acid can be considered.
scale
• The client tried broaching for 14 weeks without any progress,
• 7” top section reaching a depth just below the hanger area in the 7” section. The
caliper report shows the scale build up from surface down to
• 5 ½” Tubing below the down hole safety valve.

• This well has the liquid level just below the DHSV, and dumping of
• 1000 bbl/day production acid was therefore not a good solution and is highly costly due to
loss the volume needed.

• CoilHose package and HCL acid was mobilized to the rig in order
to remove the scale by high pressure jetting and dissolving.
Client Objective:
Re-instate DHSV, inflow test and
resume production
