Fire & Gas detection system solutions from Salwico
We are proud to present our integrated solutions incorporating different types of fire and gas detection
systems covering the need for secure and dependable solutions from demanding operators. With a
track record of more than 8,500 sold systems over the years we are convinced that we can adapt our
systems to almost every environment there is. All of our systems regardless of type are developed with
both newbuildings as well as retrofitting of older systems in mind making them fit into most
environments without any problems.

Salwico Management System SMS

SMS is a WinNT based graphic PC presentation and control system
capable of integrating different safety systems into the same MMI (Man-
Machine-Interface). This way of combining different types of systems in
a software allows the user to access the systems from for instance a PC
connected to the vessels computer-network through our IBI’s (Intelligent
Buffer Interface) hereby increasing availability and safety.
All connected systems (maximum of 16) are hooked up on a redundant
loop further ensuring access even under conditions where there can be
problems present. Most functions in the systems can be utilized just by
using the mouse and pointer and conduct normal operations not needing
to go to each respective operator’s panel.
The SMS software also offers historical logs of events taking place, useful
perhaps if there have been an incident or for verification of a separate
system. Another useable feature is the possibility to combine or separate
the different layers of objects shown; fire detectors, gas detectors, control
modules etc to give the user best possible information from the available
input.

Salwico CS3000 Fire detection system

The analogue addressable CS3000 has been around since
the very beginning of the 1990’s and can be found in almost
every environment imaginable; passenger ships, merchant
fleet, navy and off-shore vessels as well as numerous land-
based installations such as industrial, municipal and others.
The system can be configured from one to an almost
unlimited number of redundant loops. Each loop is capable
of handling up to 150 units. It can incorporate all commonly
used loop units such as heat-, smoke- and dual-function
heat and smoke detectors, manual call points, flame
detectors, address units, short circuit isolators, indication
and control modules and equipment for hazardous areas
fully addressable of course.
The system is designed for integration and adaption to other
equipment such as fire doors, dampers, sprinklers, Low
Location Lighting, paging systems and so on forming a more
complex system still easy to operate and overview, further
enhanced by the addition of our SMS.

Salwico GS3000 Gas detection system
The analogue addressable GS3000 system has been sold since the late -90’s and can be found
in environments demanding highly competent gas detection systems.
When combine our CS3000 fire detection system with the GS3000 gas detection system they
form the Salwico FG3000, a unique concept in fire and gas detection based on the same, well-
proven technology that has been refined for more than a decade in the shape of the CS3000.
The GS3000 is designed to use 4-20mA detectors of any make and type, each one configured
uniquely and optimized within the system. They are connected via sensor modules, designed for
both normal and hazardous areas, to the central unit via a four-core cable. Beside the normal
data transmission it also supports the modules with 24VDC power, making it possible to use our
proven redundant loop design ensuring a high system safety level.
The system can be configured from one to 64 redundant loops, each capable of handling up to
10 detectors.

Salwico SW2020 Gas detection system

The scanning sampling Salwico SW2020 comes from its predecessors
SW2010 and SW2000, developed for detection of gas in water ballast
tanks and other void spaces. The SW2020 system has gained from
experiences learnt over the years forming today’s system, which is
second to none.
Many of the features found in the system are further raising the level of
operational safety compared to the competition such as the counter-
pressure function, pipe control, pump redundancy, individual settings
and optimized sampling time calculations for each pipe together with
the optional dual pump set-up. Both are aimed to reduce the overall
cycle time for faster response and further the possibility of combining
up to four different detectors of 4-20mA design to ensure high accuracy
and trouble-free long-term operation to cover the most common needs.
The system design also offers the user to define the sampling sequence
as wished, not necessarily in ascending order, regardless of how many
sampling points the system holds.
All of the settings in and information from the system is presented in
clear text showing for instance alarm levels in LEL, %VOL or ppm,
presented simultaneously in repeater panels if used. Each analysing
unit can handle a maximum of 60 sampling lines, Ø 8 mm OD preferably,
stainless or normal steel quality most commonly used. You also find
normally used data interfaces and protocols available for connection to
printers and ship’s management systems. All of the above and more
has resulted in a number of sold systems world-wide that no other
manufacturer comes close to and we keep on ennobling the design to
keep ahead of the competitors.

Salwico KVC Gas detection system

One of the oldest, yet fully modern in terms of detecting, gas detection
systems in our range is the KVC type. This system is designed for
continuous measuring of gas levels in areas like pump rooms,
accommodation and places where one wants to have a dependable
still cost effective system offering many years of trouble-free operation.
It houses a number of different line units and rack sizes to optimize the
size of the system, both physically as well as financially. As this kind of
system is developed for simpler installations and environments not
requiring modern data compatibility the means of connecting it to other
systems is by relay contacts, both general and individual ones.
Over the years the need for certain detector types and sensor housings has added to create
today’s complete range of equipment, most of them relying on semiconductor technology for long-
term operation and low maintenance costs. Using corresponded detectors and line units can detect
most gases found in normal oil tanker operations, furthermore in sampling as well as fixed-detector
designs. This equipment is a normal complement to the SW2020 forming a set-up capable of
monitoring both pump rooms and ballast tanks together with void spaces within the same system.
This has been found very cost effective the last years adding to the increasing number of Salwico
gas detection systems sailing the globe.
