Amines ACD/Name

Primary Amines Rule C-813

813.1 - Primary diamines and polyamines, where all the amino groups are attached to an
aliphatic chain or directly to a cyclic nucleus, are named by adding the suffix "-diamine",
"-triamine", etc., to (a) the name of the parent compound or (b) the name of the
multivalent radical.

Examples to Rule C-812.1

The following is an example of trivial names which are retained:

813.2 - Primary diamines and polyamines in which the amino groups are attached to a
heterocyclic nucleus itself containing nitrogen are named by adding (a) the suffix "-
diamine", "-triamine", etc., to the name of the parent compound, or (b) the prefix
"diamino-", "triamino-", etc., to the name of the parent compound.

Examples to Rule C-813.2

813.3 - Primary diamines and polyamines where all the amino groups are attached to
identical side chains linked to a cyclic nucleus are named (a) by conjunctive
nomenclature or (b) as aminoalkyl derivatives of the cyclic parent.

Example to Rule C-813.3

813.4 - When primary diamines and polyamines contain amino groups in different side
chains linked to a cyclic nucleus, then (a) the senior side chain or side chains are named
by conjunctive nomenclature and the remainder as prefixes, or (b) all the side chains are
named by means of prefixes.

Examples to Rule C-813.4
