Business Ethics
(“The Wolf of Wall Street” Reflection Paper)

“Too much every is wrong”, this sentence basically summarizes the whole story
of the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street”. This is a story of a man named Jordan Belfort,
and how his life went from the peak, and back to the ground.
Belfort is a dreamer, and a believer. That is why he entered the world of business
in Wall Street brokerage firm. Inside the firm, he met remarkable business men that
thought him ways to become grate at his job, and also held him methods how to defraud
people to make his own fortune. From a simple employee, to the main man, Belfort has
mastered the way how to deceive people to carry out huge amount of money as an
investment not knowing that it is a scam. Later on, he was blinded with the power of
money, alcohol, and women which caused him to lose everything including his family
The movie is very interesting for it mainly speaks about business ethics and
behaviors, on how to be smart at every aspect of the business. The Wolf of Wall Street
thought me many lessons that I can apply in life, especially in my future occupation.
When I was watching the movie, I made realizations. Finding a job is not that
simple, you should ask yourself the things you are capable of doing and those you
cannot. Find a job where you can apply your knowledge and skills. I should also know
what I want to set action plans in achieving them. This will serve as a guide for me to
know what are the dos and don’ts. It was also shown in the film that teamwork is a must
to accomplish task efficiently and timely. It will be a contribution of knowledge and being
a good asset to the whole business. Every individual must find an answer to a question
and a solution to every problem of the company. Do whatever it takes to succeed and
surpass all the challenges. Trust is also an important factor that keeps the soul of the
business alive and maintain peace and integrity. And trust is needed to be earned. You
are supposed to think what would be the consequences of your actions because
everything is all about timing. You can take your time especially in decision making to
secure the accuracy of your footsteps that should lead you to the top. And keep in mind
that there is no such thing as a sure thing because life is full of possibilities and
opportunities, we just have to be smart and be truthful to what we do.
For me, the focal purpose of this fantastic story is to let viewers know methods
and techniques to become successful in a business and most importantly, to become
ethical at all times. Being ingenuous is a necessity so that you can grasp the loyalty of
everyone. You should not risk it because you are only going to fool yourself and this
might be the cause for you to lose everything you have worked so hard for.
