ASSESSMENT OF THE BEARING CAPACITY OF THE SUBGRADE

4.1. The support of the pavement system consists of earthworks of subgrades, according to
stipulations of STAS 2914 and eventually a capping layer, according to stipulations of STAS
12253 and with a view of design is characterized by deformability characteristics: dynamic
modulus of elasticity and Poisson’s coefficient.

4.2. The subgrade deformability characteristics are established depending on type of soil,
climatic type of the area the road is located and hydrological regime of the pavement road.

4.2.1 The soil types, according to STAS 1243, are given in table 1.
