Since the market launch of Euro 4/5, five different pump module The following is description of the main changes:
variants were installed up to 01.09.2010 which differ with regard to
their details and which can be distinguished by the part number
attached to the housing.

From 15.08.2006 onwards, the following change to the pump module (1) was incorporated into
series production:
Diameter of bores with the fastening thread (2) for fastening the pump module (1) to the
bracket changed from M12 to M10.
Outside diameter of the AdBlue® return connection (3) of 7.89 mm changed to 9.49 mm.

From 01.07.2009 onwards, the following change was incorporated into

series production:
Instead of a pneumatic pressure reduction valve of the piston valve
model, the pump module (1) is now fitted with a pneumatic pressure
reduction valve of the diaphragm valve model (4).
From 01.07.2009 onwards, only these changed pump modules (1)
will be supplied as replacement parts.

Possible repair solutions Pump modules with part number:

For some pump module Models there is a repair solution available
which avoids exchange of the complete pump module in the case of a
defective pneumatic pressure relief valve.
Pump modules with part number:
A 000 140 01 78
There is no repair solution for these pump modules so in the event
of damage they have to be completely replaced.
Pump module with part numbers:
A 000 140 02 78 and A 000 140 03 78
In the event of damage, an external pneumatic pressure relief valve
can be installed which takes over the function of the internal
pressure relief valve. This can also be replaced in the event of
damage. For these pump module variants, the plug connection for
the AdBlue® return line must also be adapted, and the pressure
accumulator bladder replaced.
A 000 140 04 78
In the event of damage, an external pneumatic pressure reduction
valve can also be installed here. This can also be replaced in the event
of damage. No additional work must be performed for these pump
module variants.
Pump modules with part number:
A 000 140 05 78
This pump module is fitted with an internal pneumatic pressure relief
valve of the diaphragm valve Model instead of the internal pneumatic
pressure relief valve in the piston valve Model. This can be replaced in
the event of damage.
