COST ACCOUNTANT POSITION

SUMMERSIDE SEAFOOD SUPREME INC., SUMMERISDE, PE

Summerside Seafood Supreme Inc., is an established seafood processor involved with both
traditional and innovative ready-to-eat seafood products which are shipped to mass retail and food
service markets in Canada, USA and to the World. We have recently invested $2.7 million in our
Summerside plant infrastructure establishing the largest seafood pasteurization capacity in the
Maritimes and are expanding our specialty product operations in P.E.I.

We are seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Cost Accountant
to provide cost accounting and some financial accounting support within this business unit. The
position will operate within the Sogelco International Inc., group of companies which includes the
Summerside business, our sister plant (Bolero Shellfish Processing Inc.) based in Saint Simon,
NB, and our sales and marketing Head Office (Sogelco International Inc.) based in Montreal, PQ.

You will be mainly responsible for the following:

Data Collection
• Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity.
• Analyzing changes in raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to
determine effects on cost.
• Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems

Inventory
• Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
• Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
• Update standard costs in the bill of materials
• Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies

Analysis
• Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses
• Report on breakeven points by products and work centers
• Report on margins by product and division
• Report on periodic variances and their causes

Requirements and Skills:

• Professional Accounting designation is preferred, or in progress

• 1 to 3 years’ experience in a general and cost accounting position in a manufacturing/
processing environment preferred
• ACCPAC and SAGE experience is a triple plus
• Ability to work independently and with strong attention to detail
• Understanding of best practices as they relate to cost accounting and internal controls
• Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytic skills, and the ability to collaborate with others
• Knowledge and experience of the seafood industry would be an asset
