1. What is the object of Stylistics? Why should we do stylistics?

Stylistics is a study of language styles, word choice and other luxury of language. The object of
stylistics is said to be the language, language is what stylistics revolve on, it is its subject of
study therefore the object of its study as well. Stylistics objective is to analyze language and its
meaning in the shade of the style used by the writter or speaker.

Doing stylistics is a manifestation of someone's inyerest in the study of language. A person can
only do stylistics if he/she is interested in learning all that is hidden about language (though
impossible). We do stylistics to further understand the meaning of a language behind its
luxurious and elagant choice of words, it is a way of understanding further and deeper the
language.

2. What is the functional style and what other functional styles do you know?

Functional style is the style of using words that is often times formal. It is tr style used in
different academic papers and even in publication papers such as news wtiting, editorial,
feature writing, etc. Functional style made the analyst analyze the text in a way that the
purpose is given being formal.

According to I.R. Galperin, Functional style is the interelated and connected language that
forms a single thought or meaning and not just stylistics devices. This means that functional
style is a style that mainly focuses on language connection to each other forming and sharing a
single definite goal or aims in communication rather than the devices of stylistics.

3. What is the goal of stylistic analysis?

Stylistics as a field of language study that uses the style in writing in order to analyze and critic a
certain piece, may a literary or Non-Literary text. It has main goal of decoding what was
encoded by the writer in just using the styles and words used by the writer. It aims to further
understand the text and its meaning by analyzing the styles that may also bring the analysts the
hint of the biographical of the writer.

Thought the goals of stylistics is many, its primary goal is to study a language chunk and that is
the styles. In particular, stylistics' goal is to introduce language study to people and to induce
appreciation to discourse.

4. Describe the nature of stylistics.

Stylistics is a branch of language study and also of other study, especially scientific studies like
psychology. Stylistics is a bridge of two connected worlds- the literary and non literary. It is a
field of study not limited to studying and analyzing only literary text and not non-literry text.

Stylistics is actually a braod topic and consist of many field of study as well. As what is said, that
a writer's piece is more than just a piece but an extension of his being and an expression of its
emotions. Stylistics deals with all of this, the expression of the writer unto analyzing the whole
being by just through his/her pieces.

5. What is style? What do you know about individual style study?

Style is a way that is unique and is very someone identity. It is said that everyone of us has a
style that differs from each other, given this and relating it to written text, style serves to be a
bridge of the analysts or stylistist to the writer even without them talking.

Individual style study is a stylistical study of hiw a certain/single person uses a uniquely set of
words to convey idea or emotions. It is about the unique style of a person in using the language
and portraying it to the people. Since stylistics is a study of style, it also needs to study the
individual style not just the general one because no one is similar therefore may also differ in
the language use.
