PRAYERS

DAILY HOLY HOUR

in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic

After the Song-Response

1
SUNDAY

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of good

health and peace that we have enjoyed for so many
years. As we find ourselves in this time of crisis today,
we ask for your divine intervention and mercy.

Guide the minds of those working to discover a

treatment to the COVID-19 virus. Grant them wisdom,
knowledge, and clarity of mind, so that all peoples will
be free from this ailment.

We also pray for the healthcare and essential services

workers that are standing in the front line of this battle.
Father, we thank you for their hearts of service, putting
the needs of society before their own, generously
responding to the cry of Your people. Grant them
strength and protection. As they give of themselves in
selfless service, may You fill them with your Holy Spirit
as they work to be Your healing hands and feet!

Merciful Father, we also surrender to You those afflicted

with the virus. Grant them Your healing grace, so that
they may recover swiftly and continue to be witnesses
of Your love in their lives.

Mother Mary, Star of the Stormy Seas, we ask for your

intercession in this great time of need. Cover each of us
with your blue mantle of protection, so that we may be
preserved in good health to continue to glorify your Son,
Jesus Christ. We make this prayer through Christ, our
Saviour and Redeemer. Amen.

SATURDAY

PRAYER OFFERED BY POPE FRANCIS

TO THE VIRGIN MARY FOR PROTECTION
AGAINST COVID-19

Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign

of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of people, know what we need.

We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting
might return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves

to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us:

He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore

our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross,
to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection,

O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas –
we who are put to the test – and deliver us
from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

“May Christ, who has already defeated death and

opened for us the way to eternal salvation, dispel
the darkness of our suffering humanity and lead us
into the light of His glorious day. A day that knows
no end”. AMEN.
