LESSON 1:

ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENTS:

1. Name at least 5 entrepreneurial leaders in our country. Describe their

entrepreneurial traits and characteristics to make them successful.

Socorro Cancio-Ramos

Socorro Cancio-Ramos is the matriarch of National Book Store, the Philippines’ leading
retailer of books, office supplies, and greeting cards -- a rare example of a businesswoman
who watched her efforts fail multiple times, then rose from the ashes to succeed with one
more try at the same venture. She is a legend in the business world. With her own style
of daring and tenacity, she has dominated the entrepreneurial world. Socorro Ramos,
despite her numerous achievements and fortune, maintains a humble demeanor and
attributes her success to her beliefs. She keeps a close eye on the corporate landscape.
She claims that there is always something new to learn, and that successful business
people must keep this in mind and keep their minds open.

Edgar Sia

As a self-made new generation entrepreneur, Injap is proof that, despite today's highly
competitive business environment, where most traditional industries such as fast food and
real estate have been dominated by the old giant players for decades, one can still
succeed if one works extremely hard, dreams big, and executes the set goal with
eagerness. He is abrasive, but his calculations are razor-sharp. His tenacity, dedication,
honesty, and inventiveness allowed him to disrupt the business in which he chose to
compete, as well as successfully manage and steer his team toward its objectives. As time
goes on, Injap continues to improve his business abilities by gaining new experiences and
valuable lessons, primarily from his dealings with many seasoned elder business tycoons
in the country, many of whom eventually became his business partners.

Tony Tan Caktiong

Caktiong is credited with inventing Jollibee, the fast food favorite of every child. Jollibee
Food Corp's P6 billion annual procurement of chicken from farmers in various parts of the
country generates sources of income and livelihood for Filipinos. In 2004, Jollibee Foods
Corporation President Tony Tan Caktiong was named World Entrepreneur Of The Year.
Jollibee began as a two-branch ice cream parlor in 1975, but the company quickly
expanded its menu to include hot sandwiches and other meals. From a handful of Jollibee
outlets 26 years ago to 1,185 outlets in 9 countries at the end of 2004, the

company's operations have risen enormously in size, geographic scope, and breadth. For
the previous six years, Jollibee has been named The Most Admired Company in the
Philippines by the respected Far Eastern Economic Review. Just like anyone else Tony
Tan Caktiong has those traits that make him a great businessman. He possesses time
management, discipline, and many other valuable traits that help him be successful in this
industry.

Cresida Tueres

Greenwich began as a modest over-the-counter pizza shop in Greenhills in 1971, founded

by Cresida Tueres. Tueres has a natural talent for cooking. Her pals were so taken with
the meal she provided that they decided to purchase a Greenwich franchise of their own.
Jollibee Foods Corporation, impressed by Tueres' commercial acumen and Greenwich's
expansion, struck an agreement in 1994 to buy 80 percent of Greenwich's stock. Since
then, the pizza business has expanded its menu to include additional items. Greenwich
set a new record with a P1 billion sale in 1997.

Milagros, Clarita, and Doris Leelin – Goldilocks

Milagros, Clarita, and Doris Leelin founded Goldilocks in a 70-square-meter Makati

building with only two cake displays and ten employees. Milagros and Clarita, sisters, have
a passion for baking and chose to turn it into a business. The Leelins opened their first
branch with the help of their sister-in-law Doris. Goldilocks debuted its franchising program
in 1991. The bakeshop franchise had around 400 locations across the country as of 2015,
with additional locations in the United States, Canada, and Southeast Asia. Goldilocks has
grown from a P66,000 start-up to a multi-million dollar food company with over 4,000
workers.

2. How do organizations achieve their stated goals and objectives? Briefly explain
your answer.

Without some essential aims, organizations will not be able to survive and thrive for very
long. Goals provide an organization with a sense of purpose and direction for the full year.
There are three levels of organizational priorities; Purpose—a broad, general statement
that tells why your organization exists; it usually doesn't change from year to year and is
often the first statement in your constitution. Goals—statements describing what your
organization wishes to accomplish, stemming from your purpose. Goals are the ends
toward which your efforts will be directed and often change from term to term or year to
year, depending on the nature of the group. Objectives—descriptions of exactly what is
to be done, derived from the goals. They are clear, specific statements of measurable
tasks that will be accomplished as steps toward reaching your goals. They are short term
and have deadlines. A vision and a mission are usually the starting points for planning.
The managers then devise a plan for realizing the vision and mission; their success and
progress in realizing the vision and mission will be determined by the achievement of the
underlying goals and objectives. A vision statement often includes a broad set of goals—
Parungao, Cheska C.
BS Entrepreneurship 1-3
Activities and Assessments in Lessons 1-5

what the organization expects to accomplish in the future. Mission statements—what the
organization aspires to be for its stakeholders—also include goals. Unless the company
is made up of just one person, there are usually a lot of moving pieces in terms of functional
areas and product or service areas. Accounting and marketing, for example, would need
goals and objectives that, when assessed and recorded, can illustrate whether and how
those departments contribute to the organization's aims and objectives.

3. Explain to what extent leaders and entrepreneurial leaders distinct with each
other? Cite an example to justify your answer.

Entrepreneurship and leadership, or simply entrepreneurship and leadership, are

sometimes regarded synonyms, i.e. they signify the same thing. However, these two
phrases have very different connotations. Entrepreneurship refers to a set of
characteristics that an entrepreneur possesses and use when beginning a business.
Leadership, on the other hand, is the process of influencing people and creating an
environment in which they may fulfill the organization's goals. As a result, leadership is
distinct from entrepreneurship. Leadership can include entrepreneurship, but
entrepreneurship cannot include leadership. Leadership has ramifications for
entrepreneurial behavior as well. People who have leadership traits, such as the capacity
to influence others, are more likely to become entrepreneurs and perform entrepreneurial
tasks more effectively.

LESSON 3:

Activities/Assessments:

1. What makes an entrepreneurial leader cognitively ambidextrous? Cite an

instance to explain briefly your answer.

Cognitive ambidexterity is the name given to the first principle, which introduces this
new style of thinking and acting. Entrepreneurial leaders must learn to be cognitively
ambidextrous in their decision-making, using both prediction and creativity logic. When
an organization's future goals and environment are similar to those of the past,
entrepreneurs can use classic analytic models to forecast and manage the situation.
When the future is unknown and bears no similarity to the past, however,
entrepreneurs must learn to create it via action and experimenting. Entrepreneurial
leaders learn to balance and engage both of these decision-making techniques
through cognitive ambidexterity.

2. Discuss briefly the similarities and differences of trait, behavioral, and

integrative theories of motivation.

What constitutes a good leader is a topic of discussion among leadership philosophies.

Many schools of thought have emerged over time that offer various answers for where
leaders come from and how they can be identified. Trait theory and behavioral theory
are two approaches to these concerns that are very similar. Both view leadership as a
set of attributes or activities that must be mastered; the distinction between trait and
behavioral leadership theories is whether the behaviors are intrinsic or taught. While
integrative theories, through personal attitude, subjective norms, and perceived
behavioral control, the model claims that motivation, opportunity, and ability influence
entrepreneurial ambitions.

3. What motivates you in performing the following roles in life:

a. Student

The only thing that motivates me in being a student is my self and dreams that I
want to achieve for the future that I am longing for. Being a student is not easy
because you need to study different fields or subject in order to fulfill our knowledge
and be aware of every things in our lives. I am the only one who can encourage
and motivate my self to do school stuffs and I must say that being independent is
important so you don’t need to expect the help of other people in times of your
needs.
Parungao, Cheska C.
BS Entrepreneurship 1-3

b. Member of the family

What motivates me of being a member family is my parents. They tend to teach

me good ways on how to live life in a proper way and how to deal with times of
difficulties. As a member of family, you need be aware of things that might help
stay in a situation where all your needs and even in financial are stable.

c. Friend

Being a friend is not also easy because you need to adjust in every differences of
people you are meant to be friend with. What inspires me is also my friends who
needs the comfort of other people because of the instances in their lives. I try to
be a friend that they can call “one call away friend” in times of their needs.

d. Filipino citizen

As a filipino citizen, what motivates me to be a good filipino citizen are the problems
that we are facing right now in our country especially this time of pandemic. I tend
to study more harder in order for me to be aware of the happenings in our country
so in the future, we make better plans for our country and make right decisions.

LESSON 4:

Activities/Assessments:

1. Why is it important to consider his SEERS worldview in making decisions for the
attainment of an enterprise goals and objectives?

Rather than the traditional sequential paradigm, we educate SEERS to produce

entrepreneurial leaders with a perspective centered on simultaneously managing social,
environmental, and economic value creation. This is important because this principle of
Entrepreneurial Leadership makes entrepreneurs m ore accountable and
responsible for their impact on different aspects of society.

2 LOCAL SMEs

1. Mana Bites

The birth of Mana Bites was inspired by its founder’s trip to Bali. In yoga, mana means
energy, and the yogi founder, Chrissie Torres, wanted snacking to be healthy, tasty, and
waste-free. Her mission: provide superfood with gluten-free, sugar-free, and paleo-free
ingredients, while avoiding single-use plastics. Her products range from mana balls, mana
bars, and mana cookies. Mana bites is an environmentally aware firm that prepares
nutrient-dense whole food snacks and packages them sustainably in order to engage
people in holistic and mindful living. All of our products are available in surprise or selected
mixes for our subscription boxes, and the greatest thing is that there is no packaging
waste. This innovative solution will allow more people to snack on healthier food in a
hassle-free manner, 24/7, and bring to life the shared vision of providing a variety of well-
curated meals, snacks, and beverages to all types of palates through its diverse inventory.

(GADC), which holds the local franchise for McDonald’s fast-food restaurants—all
contributed to AGI’s robust growth for the year. AGI’s total revenues for 2013 grew by
a hefty 20.8 percent to P123.38 billion from P102.13 billion in the previous year. This
record-breaking performance was a result of the robust performances of our

that they will not let our past successes lull us into complacency. Instead, they will
forge ahead with an even firmer resolve to do better than ever, with the confidence of
knowing that they have, after all, mastered the art of success.

2. JG Summit Holdings

Sustainability in today's environment involves creating shared value for the

organization and its stakeholders in an ever-changing business context. In many ways,
JG Summit founder and chairman emeritus John Gokongwei Jr. learned this lesson
early in life and passed it on to the JG Summit Group. When John's father died, he
was forced to assume the enormous duty of being the family's breadwinner. From his
humble beginnings selling candles, soap, and thread in Cebu's market, John has
discovered ways to expand his company by responding to client requirements, making
products more accessible, utilizing resources, and grabbing chances.

Having a keen business foresight in satisfying consumers’ unmet needs and a strong
commitment to social good laid the foundation for the formal integration of sustainability
at JG Summit, a key priority for John’s son Lance when he took over as president and
chief executive officer (CEO) in May 2018. As Lance presides over the conglomerate’s
transformation, sustainability and business strategy have become inextricably linked.
Even philanthropy has evolved as a social investment tool to create shared value for all
stakeholders. A milestone in JG Summit’s sustainability journey is the CEO
Sustainability Summit, a conglomerate-wide alignment, where all the CEOs of the
conglomerate’s strategic business units shared how their frameworks, best practices
and future initiatives toward enhanced sustainability are rooted in their business
strategy.

The CEO Sustainability Summit was also an opportunity for the JG Summit Strategic
Business Unit (SBU) CEOs to explore potential synergies within the conglomerate that
address issues like waste management and reduction, as well as water and energy
efficiency. With its scale, diversity, and strong ecosystem, JG Summit hopes to utilize
and build on its expertise in different areas of business to deliver long-term, positive
impact on a wider and more inclusive scale.

3. Explain how an entrepreneurial leader can reconcile his economic and legal
responsibility.
Parungao, Cheska C.
BS Entrepreneurship 1-3
Activities and Assessments in Lessons 1-5

Any other ethical components of successful modern leadership, management, and

organizations could be included in the list. Ethics is a broad topic. The notion has many
distinct definitions and interpretations. There are no universally accepted ethical
guidelines, no absolute norms or regulations, and no established and firm
benchmarks. This is fascinating given how hugely important ethics have now become
in modern life and society.

4. Discuss the difference between stakeholders and stockholders. Cite a scenario

where these two terms are applied.

A shareholder is an individual who owns or holds stock in a corporation. A stockholder

should be referred to as a "shareholder." A stakeholder is a person who has an interest
in a company or who is affected by the company's actions. In the corporate world, the
terms "stakeholder" and "shareholder" are frequently interchanged. There are
significant distinctions in usage between the terms stakeholder and shareholder. In
general, a shareholder is a company stakeholder, however a stakeholder is not always
a shareholder. A shareholder is a person who owns an equity stock in a company and
so has a stake in the firm's ownership. A stakeholder, on the other hand, is someone
who is interested in the company's performance for reasons other than capital gain.

Traditionally, companies were only answerable to their shareholders. However, this

scenario has changed in recent years. Many corporations have started to accept the
fact that, apart from shareholders, the company is also answerable to many other
constituents in the business environment. For example, if a company is involved in
business activities that take away the green space within a community, the company
must create programs that protect the social welfare of the community and the
ecosystem. The company may engage in tree-planting exercises, provide clean
drinking water to the community, and offer scholarships to members of the community.

5. How do pillars of sustainability help an enterprise to be valuable to its

community? Justify your answer by citing an example.

The phrase "sustainability" refers to a variety of programs, efforts, and actions focused
at preserving a certain resource. It actually relates to four distinct areas: personal,
social, economic, and environmental sustainability, which are referred to as the four
pillars of sustainability. The four pillars of sustainability principle asserts that in order
to achieve total sustainability, problems must be handled in regard to the four pillars
of sustainability and then maintained. Despite the fact that some of these may overlap,
it is critical to determine the precise type of green business to focus on, as each of the
four has its own set of features. Businesses must make a strategic decision so that
the chosen strategy may be properly integrated into their policies and procedures.

Businesses must make a strategic decision so that the chosen strategy may be
properly integrated into their policies and procedures. At a time when society is
becoming more conscious of its impact on the environment, the corporate landscape
is undergoing significant changes as a result of this collective push toward a more
sustainable future. Leading corporations such as Siemens, Samsung, and Honda
have demonstrated that sustainable innovation is a priority in their business strategies,
Parungao, Cheska C.

paving the path for others to follow suit. Corporations are even forming partnerships
with forward-thinking green businesses to help them achieve their sustainability goals.
Economic, social, and environmental sustainability are the three pillars of corporate
sustainability that work together to assist businesses achieve more sustainable
practices. Businesses must change their mindset from one of quick profits at the
expense of the environment to one of mutual interdependence and eco-innovation.
Adopting sustainable practices not only helps the environment - corporations have proven
that sustainability initiatives lead to an improved brand image, reduced costs, happier
shareholders, increased productivity, and countless more benefits. Sustainability is here to
stay.

most about yourself?

The things that I would like to change in myself is being too overthinker, worrying a lot with
other people’s situation because I want to focus on myself first. And lastly, having no
enough confidence.
