THE SLIVER EYES: FNAF BY SCOTT CAUTHON

Book Report

Main Conflict
The novel I read for my book report is Sliver Eyes FNAF by Scott Cauthon. Conflict is
defined as a struggle between opposing forces. In Silver Eyes, the main conflict is external
between a group of friends; Carlton, Charlie, John, Marla, Jessica and Jason, and 4 animatronics
along with Dave the security guard. The group of friends find themselves trap inside Freddy
Fazbear Pizzeria trying to escape, 4 animatronics lurking in the darkness. They get trap in the
pizzeria, when the security guard, Dave distracts them by the movements of the animatronics.
Dave uses this distraction to escape and retrieve the yellow Bonnie suit, he then kidnap’s
Carlton. Jason sees Bonnie kidnapping Carlton. Jason and the others leave the pizzeria to go get
help. However, the authorities don’t believe him, and is dismissed as a practical joke, pulled off
by Carlton.

The friends go back to find Carlton. Charlie finds Carlton in a spring locking suit, and is
able to help him escape by deactivating the spring locks. They are than chased down by the
animatronics, until they are cornered by the animatronics in the party room.

The conflict is resolved when Golden Freddy suddenly appears and animatronics become
less hostile. Dave, who is dressed in the yellow bonnie suit, attacks Charlie. Charlie is able to
escape Dave by setting off the spring locks of the suit. The animatronics drags Dave away. The
group than leaves Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria, and decide it would be best to leave the memories of
the pizzeria behind them.

I was satisfied with the resolution of the conflict in Sliver Eyes. I feel the author did a
great job in solving the problems, and providing answer to any questions, such as who was Dave
the security really? The only thing I would chance in the book, is my favorite character, Foxy
from the game was not in the book enough!

Carlton Burke
A character from the novel Sliver Eyes FNAF by Scott Cawthon that I admire is Carlton
Burke. Carlton Burke is one of the main characters, and is the only son to Clay Burke (chief of
police) and Betty Burke (distract attorney). Carlton has red hair, brown eyes, is 17 years old and
is described as usually being dressed in all black.

Carlton is a goofy character who loves making people smile with his jokes and pranks.
We know Carlton likes playing jokes and pranks, as in the novel when Jason sees him kidnapped
by Bonnie, the authorities dismiss Jason, as Carlton is known as a prankster son of a local officer
and the authorities assume Carlton has taken a joke too far. Another example from the novel
showing Carlton goofy, joking side is when they break into the pizzeria a second time he moves
the animatronics and scares everyone with his joke.

Carlton is also a caring person. Carlton Caring side is showed in the book a few times.
The first example in the book, is when the boys split up from the girls Carlton looks back and
waves to make sure there ok. A second example is during the ceremony for his friend Michael,
Carlton gives a very emotional and heart felt speech. Carlton adds a little humor in his speech, to
try and make everyone feel better, during such a sad time.

Overall I think Carlton is a great character as he is a very caring individual, and uses his
goofy, humor side to try and make everyone in the room smile and laugh. He is also a great
friend, as he is always there for his friends, and always makes sure they are ok.

Theme
Theme is the main message in a story. I believe the theme in Sliver Eyes FNAF by Scott
Cawthon is you shouldn’t trust strangers. In the story, the group of friends trusts a security guard,
Dave, they just meant, and he leads them into a trap in the pizzeria. There are many examples in
the book when Dave is not to be trusted, and in the end turns out to be the bad guy and the ones
responsible for the disappearing children many years ago.

In the beginning of the book, Dave is seen a few times as security guard when going to
the abandon pizzeria. The first couple of times, the kids think they have gotten in and the
security guard did not see them. However, on the third night when they go, the security comes up
to them and says, I knew you couldn’t stay away. He talks with the kids, making them think they
are convincing him to go into the pizzeria with them, when really he wants them to invite him to
go with them. Once they are inside, he is able to control the animatronics with ease, and uses this
to distract the friends. Dave slips away and put on a yellow Bonnie suit and kidnaps Carlton.

Later in the book, you find out that Dave the security guard is not really Dave. His real
name is William, and was part owner of the pizzeria with Charlie’s dad. It also turns out that
William was the police number 1 suspect in the case of the children disappearing many years
ago. The police could never prove that it was him. In the end the group realizes that William is
behind the animatronics and the missing kids and is able to get out of the pizzeria.

It is best not to trust strangers, and to be extra careful around them, as you could end up
in a lot of trouble. So in conclusion I think it is best if you don’t trust strangers or sketchy people
