each of the discussion points:

 What would you do if you found yourself in a situation similar to that faced
by Suzette in this case?
 Do you believe that it was appropriate for Suzette to report the alleged theft ring
to a store manager? Why or Why not?
 Accounting majors are preparing to enter a profession recognized as having one
of the strongest and most rigorously enforced ethical codes. Given this fact, do you
believe that accounting majors have a great responsibility than other business
majors to behave ethically?

 What would you do if you found yourself in a situation similar to that faced
by Suzette in this case?
If I found myself in a situation similar to that faced by Suzette in this case I would take
the same action as her. That is, I would send an anonymous message to the store manager
as well. Doing it in this manner can make Suzette avoid involving this matter personally,
and thus, it can protect Suzette from being retaliated against at the company. It is not
unethical behavior, because the company will benefit from Suzette’s action. As a result, it
provides the greatest good for the greatest number.
 Do you believe that it was appropriate for Suzette to report the alleged theft ring
to a store manager? Why or Why not?
Yes, I believe that is was appropriate for Suzette to report the alleged theft ring to a store
manager. It is a morally appropriate way. Doing it enable Suzette to maintain her moral
responsibility in her work. Everyone should have moral conscience when he or she
discovers something is not proper. Moral conscience is a person’s inner voice which tells
him or her whether his or her action is good or bad, right or wrong. It can urge a person
to have good or right behavior and avoid evil. If Suzette chooses to be silent, she could
violate the moral conscience and ethical standard of the accounting profession.
 Accounting majors are preparing to enter a profession recognized as having one
of the strongest and most rigorously enforced ethical codes. Given this fact, do you
believe that accounting majors have a great responsibility than other business
majors to behave ethically?
Yes, I believe that accounting majors have a great responsibility than other business
majors to behave ethically since they are preparing to be accounting professionals.
Accounting professionals play an important role in society. They have been granted an
exclusive right to provide accurate and reliable financial information to various
stakeholders, both inside and outside the firm that is used for analysis and decision-
making. In turn, accounting professionals should maintain a high degree of professional
integrity with competence and reliability, and make a promise to present the truth in a fair
and accurate manner. The accounting professional’s reputation and career is on the line,
so it is very important for him or her to act ethically.
