TEACHING OF ISLAMS FOR HANDLING

A PANDEMIC LIKE COVID-19
As we discussed earlier that Islam is a complete code of life which guides us in
every field and department of life. Islam also gives guidance regarding tackling
such pandemics. Details of such teachings are given below:

1. TEACHINGS OF ISLAMS FOR PROTECTION

AGAINST COVID-19 & OTHER PANDEMICS:
 Importance of Hygiene:
Islam teaches its followers to maintain personal hygiene. Importance of hygiene
is described by the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) in these words:
“Hygiene is half of belief.”
Now a days, WHO and other organizations also emphasize on the importance of
personal hygiene while these lessons were taught by the Islam 1400 years ago.
Personal hygiene helps in increasing the immune system which helps in fighting
against diseases.

 Washing of Hands frequently:

Most important measure in order to save yourself from Covid-19 is the frequent
washing of hands. It is mandatory to perform ablution before offering prayer 5
times a day. Ablution consists of washing of hands, washing of nose, gurgle,
washing of nose and feet. Islam also teaches us to wash the hands before and after
eating food. In Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says:
“Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those
who purify themselves.”

 Physical Exercise:
According to recent researches, different types of physical exercises are
beneficial in order to develop immunity against different diseases including
Covid-19. Islam also encourages the physical exercises. Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H)
said:
“Your body has a right over you.”

 Social Distancing:
Covid-19 spreads from infected persons to others via physical contact. So, social
distancing is very important factor for controlling the spread of the virus. Now a
days, WHO emphasizes on social distancing and Islam taught the same lesson to
its believer centuries ago. Social distancing was also practiced by Holy Prophet
(P.B.U.H) during his life in order to stop the spread of infectious diseases.

 Concept of Quarantine:
Islam had provide the concept of quarantine the infected persons 1400 years ago.
Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
“Those with contagious disease should not be kept with those who
are healthy.”
Now a days, practice of quarantine is the need of the hour in order to protect the
healthy ones from this devastating pandemic.

 Use of Herbals:
Humans with lower immunity are the target of this deadliest virus. Most of the
deaths caused by this virus are the people having lower immunity system.
Immunity of a human is increased by using different types of herbs especially the
herbs which are described in Holy Quran and Sunnah such as Black Seed and
Honey. Recent researches proved the importance of these herbs.

 Medical Treatment:
Islam encourages its followers to seek medical treatment for a disease when it is
necessary. As, Allah Almighty has created the cure of every disease. Holy
Prophet (P.B.U.H) said:
“Allah (God) did not send down a disease without having sent down
its cure.”
2. TEACHINGS OF ISLAM FOR HANDLING THE
IMPACTS OF COVID-19:
 Islamic Finance:
Due to Covid-19, different industries such as agriculture, oil, petroleum etc. are
suffering from crises and western financial system is adding insult to injury in
this case. In these situation, Islamic finance is the best way to tackle this situation.

 Support of Needy People:

Due to Covid-19, unemployment rate is increased very much. As a result, middle
class is suffering from many problems. Swell mob people are suffering from
shortage of food and other necessaries of life. Islam teaches us to help the people
in need regardless of their religion, colour, creed or race. Being a Muslim it is
our duty to find and help these people as due to their self-respect, they are unable
to ask for their needs. Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said about social help in these
words:
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of
this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties
of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire
straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both
this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a
Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the
Hereafter.”

CONCLUSION
As Islam is a complete code of life and guides us in every field of life including
pandemic situations like current situation of Covid-19. If we follow the guidance
of Islam, it will save us from this devastating virus. Teaching of Islam will also
help us in minimizing the social, financial and economic impacts of the
pandemic. So it is very important and beneficial for us to follow the guidance and
teachings of Islam in order to tackle this current pandemic situation.
