Renew all the packing rings when installing; the threads should be applied with locking agent after being degreased; pay attention to the installing direction of solenoid valve; . Pay attention to the button position of solenoid valve, it should be at ON position. - 210 - 5.10 Monitoring System The monitoring system of the diesel engine mostly consists of engine control box (cabinet) and elec- tric components installed on the engine (such as stopping solenoid, oil pressure switch, temperature sen- Sor, etc) It fills the role as follows: To control the engine starting, operation, stopping; To monitor the engine speed, cooling water temperature, lubricating oil temperature and pressure; To alarm in case of high cooling water temperature, low oil pressure and overspeed during operating ‘and shut down the engine automatically if the oil pressure is too low or the engine runs away. The monitoring system is available in box type and cabinet type, and the installation methods are dif- ferent: wall-type, engine-carried type and stationary type. The function and configuration of monitoring system vary with different engine purpose. Taking the common marine main engine control box (Drawing No. 4.234,.2.000.311.7) for example, we introduce the principle, use and check. The electric parts in the control box is updated very quickly, for accurate information, please refer to the instruction of engine con- trol box supplied along with the engine. 5.10.1 Layout drawing of engine control box panel, referring to Fig. 5-10-1. 5.10.2 Electric part position of monitoring system on the engine and wiring layout, referring to Fig. 5-10-2. 5.10.3 Electric schematic diagram, referring to Fig. 5-10-3. 1. Ready stato When the diesel engine is in a state of stopping, the charging dynamo G does not work, its connect ing terminal 61 is at low potential (namely the voltage of wire 61 to the negative wire 31 of power supply is zero volt), at this time, the ‘stop’ lamp HL lights, the relay KA2 acts, its normally closed contacts open, thereby the time relay KT doesn't work, neither the alarm safety circuit (such as low oil pressure). At the same time, a set of normally opened contacts of KA2 close, which makes the wire 32 of starting circuit have positive power supply, thereby the engine is ready to start. 2. Starting Push down the ‘start’ push button SB2, the relay KA3 acts and its normally opened contacts close, which makes the wire 50 of starter get power supply of 24V, the starter works and drives the engine crankshaft to turn, thus starts the diese! engine. ‘8. Operating ‘After the engine is started, the charging dynamo begins to make electricity, its wire 61 becomes high potential from low potential (about 28V) and the ‘operating’ lamp HL2 lights; furthermore the ‘stop’ lamp HL1 and the relay KA2 stop working because of no voltage, the closed state at stop of normally open contacts of the KA2 become open, this has cut off the power supply to the wire 50 of starting circuit, thereby the starter has voltage no longer and withdraws from working automatically. At the same time, the open state at stop of a set of normally closed contacts of KA2 gets closed, the time relay KT is = 2 ~ switched on through the contacts and begins to time; the normally opened contacts of KT close after a delay of 30s, which makes the alarm safety circuit of engine and gear box oil pressure switched on and at working state. 4. Stop Normal stop Push down the ‘stop’ button SB4 to connect the wire 39, while the contactor KM works, its normally open contacts close, the positive power supply makes the stopping solenoid installed on the engine act through the wire 81 and stop the engine, the charging dynamo stops operating also, the volt- age of wire 61 changes from high potential to low potential, and the ‘operating’ lamp HL2 goes out while the relay KA2 ‘stop’ lamp works, thus the engine is at shutdown. Emergency stop If emergency shutdown is necessary during running, press the ‘emergency stop’ button $86, the power supply makes the emergency shutdown solenoid valve installed on the engine act through the wire 79 to cut off fuel supply of the engine. At the same time, the relay KA4 connected to the wire 79 works, its normally open contacts close to make the normal stop circuit act simultaneously. 5. Alarm High water temperature During the operation of the engine, the water temperature sensor transmits the temperature signal into the temperature switch WK through the wires §5 and 56. When the tempera- ture of cooling water is higher than the set point of temperature switch WK (about 90°C), the contacts of WK close to make the relay KAS work, the normally open contacts of KA@ close and the high water tem- perature indicator lamp HL8 lights through the wire 53. Low oil pressure During the operation of the engine, if the lube oil pressure is lower than 0.15MPa, the contacts of pressure controller (namely low oil pressure switch) installed on the engine close to make the relay KA act through the wire 2, the normally open contacts of KA7 close and the low oll pressure in- dicator lamp HLS lights. ‘Too low oll pressure When the lube oll pressure of the engine is lower than 0.1MPa, the contacts of pressure controller (namely too low oll pressure switch) installed on the engine close to connect the wires 3and 4, the relay KAS acts through the wires 4 and 44, its first set of normally open contacts close to make KAS self-hold, the second set of normally open contacts close to switch on the emergency stop cir- cuit to stop the engine, the third set of normally open contacts close to light the too low oil pressure indi- cator lamp HL4, Overspeed When the engine speed exceeds 115% (for generating set) or 120% (main engine) of the rated speed, the normally open contacts of overspeed relay will close and the relay KA6 works, the first set of normally open contacts of KAG close to make KA6 self-hold, the second set of normally open contacts close to switch on emergency stop circuit, and the third set of normally open contacts close to light the overspeed indictor lamp HLS. 6. Reserved interface The customer can be supplied with the state signal and alarm signal of the engine through the outer terminal; the customer can also start, stop and emergently shut down the engine through remote control. 5.10.4 Operating requirements for monitoring system 4. Check the wiring of monitoring system for correctness and tightness before commissioning and ~ 212 - during service; If the engine does not operate frequently, press the ‘stop’ button before each starting and check whether the stop solenoid is in proper position and free of jamming; the reading of amperemeter should not exceed 10A. The starter must not work continuously for more than 10 seconds every time, the starting interval should be not less than 1 minute; look for the cause if the starting fails for three times. Do disconnect the wiring of charging dynamo from the battery to prevent the internal components, of the dynamo from damage. . During the operation of the engine provided with the charging dynamo, the battery must not be charged by the outside charging unit; otherwise, the control circuit can not work normally because of overvoltage. . The monitoring system must be checked and serviced biannually or periodically: to check the wire connections for tightness, the buttons and switches for maneuverability, the function of starting, stop, emergency shutdown, lamp test and reset for normality; check and test the overspeed protection for function with simulation method; check the two outgoing lines of pressure controller using avometer at engine stopping, the measured resistance value should be about 0 Ohm; check oF calibrate the indicating instrument in order to indicate the engine operating data correctly. yPued x09 paquoo euybu0 Jo Buyneup Ino] |-O1-S “El {WWIDEZ xO0r *009=UEIY IAP x\yBuUe|:UO|suELWIP x09 JoNLED sejouaieduy —y sePUNEA A Jojo aumereduiey ene yh oGneB eunyesodwa} yo"am ed ‘Bre aunssaid joan] zd sejowoure, Ld uwonng SupueIs, 88S vuoung jsa1 due, 28s uoung dors Aouebiews, 98s voung ,1950u, gas vuonng dos, yas \Mowns senoabueyp ajowaiqeoo7, 2S wonng ues, 28s uous somod fox Las dwe| veorpuyasmerodwor Jovem Yo, STH. = 214 hohe] Buyyn pus eujbue ey Uo WeyaXs BupcyuoU!
