CLINICAL COURSE - IV

INTERNAL MOOT COURT RULES AND REGULATIONS

I. AIM & PURPOSE

Internal Moot Court exercise is for the examination of the student through Mock Argumentation and
memorial submission, whereby the teacher evaluates the competence of the student through marks.

II. The internal rounds shall be in the English language only.

III. Team Composition and problems

a. There shall be 3 moot – wherein each student is evaluated for 10 Marks per moot, which shall

be divided into orals (5marks) and memorial (5 marks). The problems for the moot shall be

based on civil law, criminal law and constitutional law.

b. There shall be 2 students in one team, one on each side.

IV. Rounds

Student to represent side as specified. Team composition will be that of an applicant & a respondent.
The arguments will be followed by rebuttal and sur-rebuttal.

The dress code shall be regular uniform.

No gadgets are permitted to be used during the presentation

Students are required to mandatorily turn up 15 minutes prior to their scheduled presentation

Timings of conducting the all the three moot rounds would be between 2:30 to 4:30pm and will be
notified priorhand.

V. Memorials

The following requirements for memorials must be strictly followed. Non-conformation will result in
reduction of marks:

a. Each student must prepare HANDWRITTEN memorial only for the side they are required to represent
(either Petitioners or Respondent).

b. Hard copy of the HANDWRITTEN memorial ought to be preserved and submitted when offline classes
resume.
c. Late submission of scanned copies of memorials will result in reduction of marks or rejection as per
discretion of the Professors-in-charge.

d. Once the memorials have been submitted, no revisions / supplements / additions will be allowed.

e. The memorials have to be submitted on A4 size paper HANDWRITTEN, and bound with paper binding
strictly. Use of any plastic or cellophane sheets for binding is forbidden. Length of the memorial is to be
a minimum of 15 pages.

It must contain:

➢ The table of contents


➢ The index of authorities
➢ The statement of jurisdiction
➢ The statement of facts (1 page only)
➢ The statement of issues -The summary of arguments (not more than 1 page)
➢ The arguments advanced (not more than 15 pages)
➢ The prayer

g. The memorials should be staple bound or stitched. Any other form of binding shall not be accepted.

h. The memorial must have a margin measuring one inch on all sides of each page

i. The page numbering should be on the top right side of each page.

j. Covers must be placed on briefs: Petitioner: Light Blue Color; Respondent: Light Red Color.

k. The cover page of the memorial must state the following

▪ The cause title


▪ Identify brief as Petitioners / Respondents as is applicable

VI. Any clarifications regarding Queries on Case / Submission of Memorials can be sought from the
Professors -in-charge.
