SUPPLIES / ADDITIONAL RESOURCES


Students will need the pencils, paper and a binder. A scientific calculator is useful but it is usually possible to borrow
during class time. The use of a graphing calculator can be used in some units and can be borrowed during class time.
There is also the possibility to complete work using a computer, there are a limited number of computers in the
classroom available for your use, therefore having your own computer might be helpful.

ACCREDITATION / EXTERNAL CERTIFICATION


Successful completion of this course will provide the learner with 2 credits toward completion of the Nova Scotia High
School Graduation Diploma for Adults.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION METHODS


A variety of informal and formal methods may be used for assessing and evaluating your learning, including but not
limited to:

▪ Tests ▪ Self-Assessments

Evaluation Scheme:
Assignments: 8 @ 3% each ......................... 24%
Tests: 8 @ 7.5% each .................................. 60%
Presentations: 8 @ 2% each ………………. 16%
Total ............................................................ 100%

The pass mark for this course is 60%. All Modules must also be completed with a mark of 60% or greater. All outcomes
for this course must be successfully achieved to receive a passing grade.

There will be opportunities for each student to give and receive feedback throughout the course. Each student will also
have scheduled one-on-one feedback sessions with their faculty.

Late Submissions
Assessments and evaluations are to be handed in on or before the specified due date. Late submissions may not be
accepted after assignments have been corrected and returned to other learners. Should you be unable to complete an
evaluation, speak with your faculty prior to the due date about your options.

Supplemental Evaluations
Students may be eligible to write supplemental evaluations however, not all courses are eligible for a course
supplemental evaluation. Approval to exempt a course from eligibility for supplemental evaluation must be granted by
the school Dean and the Director of Enrolment and Registrar. For more information speak with your faculty or Academic
Chair.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
Because every learner is different, it is effective to align the pace, workload, and delivery strategy to strengths of the
