GRAMMAR BOX. (REMEMBER)
Present simple : yes/no questions and short answers.
Yes / No questions are used to check information or ask for confirmation. In short answers
we don´t repeat the main verb – instead we use an appropriate auxiliary verb ( usually the
same auxiliary as in the question).
Example:
Do you like playing football? Yes, I do / No, I don´t.
Does your friend enjoy playing football? Yes, he does. / No he doesn´t.
Negative form: No, she doesn´t No, they don´t

ACTIVITY 1
1. Identify the text type ( email) Do you have an email account?
Identifica el texto. ( correo electronico) Tienes una direccion de correo?
What do you use it for? Para qué lo usas?
How often do you use it? Cada cuánto lo usas?
2. Read the email. And answer please, in English in your notebook.
1. Who wrote the email? Quien escribió el mensaje?
2. Who´s going to receive it ? Quien recibió el mensaje?
3. What´s the email about? Qué dice el mensaje?
Aqui comenzamos a trabajar las acciones que se haran en un futuro y para esto es necesario
usar : GOING TO.
What are you going to do after school?( Carolina ). I´m going to visit my grandparents.
Qué haras despues del colegio? Yo iré ( futuro) a visitar a mis abuelitos.
What is (Carolina )going to do after school? She´s going to visit her grandparents.
Qué hará (Carolina) después del colegio? Ella irá a visitar a sus abuelitos.
Reading: TELEPHONE CONVERSATION.
Miguel: Hello?
Juan: Hi there, Miguel! I just read your email and decided to call you. All those free‐
time activities you talk about in Caicedonia sound great fun!
Miguel: Yes, they do! I´m really excited. And you ? Are you going to do anything after
school this year?.
Juan: Well, I´m not going to continue swimming. It´s too cold to go swimming now.
This year I´m going to ride my bike to school every day. I´ve got a new one and it´s
really fast!.
Miguel: How cool!.
Juan: Yes. And you know, I love collecting coins, so this weekend I´m going to meet
some friends and we´re going to exchange some. I really want to get some Chinese
yuan to add to my collection. I hope I get some!.
Miguel: Good luck! What about skateboarding? I know you love sakateboarding.
Juan: I do. But I´m NOT going to go skateboarding any more. I prefer riding my bike.
Miguel: Great! I also love riding my bike. When you come to visit us, we can go for a
ride around the town.
Juan: Oh, that sounds fantastic ! I´d love to do that.
ACTIVITY 2: Read to Juan and Miguel´s telephone conversation. Which of the activities in
the photos ( 1‐ 4) do they talk about? Read again and make notes about the
activities. Write sentences about Juan is going to do or NOT going to do. (Example in
the box).
GRAMMAR BOX :
Future : be going to
We use be going to , to talk about future plans. Example:
I am going to join a club.
He is going to meet his friends.
Pay attention to contractions: I´m going to…. She´s going to…

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
(SECOND WEEK.)
Read the LUCAS AND PATRICIA´S CONVERSATION about moving from the countryside to the
city.
PATRICIA: So, you are going to move to Bucaramanga, to the city.
LUCAS: Yes, my dad got a new job. I´m happy about his new job, but I´m sad about
leaving here.
PATRICIA: I know. Me too!
LUCAS: I´ll miss you and all the things I do here on the farm . You know I like milking
the cows, watering the plants, doing chores to help my parents and feeding
the animals.
PATRICIA: I´ll miss you too. I love it when we go to horse riding , and when we swim and
fish in the river. But I know you´re going to do lots of new exciting things in
the city. Things that we can´t do here.
LUCAS: Yes, my parents said that in the city we´re going to go shopping malls. Also
we´re going to go to the cinema. And we´re going to have a TV and the
internet, so I´m going to watch TV and play video games.
PATRICIA: That sounds cool!.
LUCAS: Yes, but you know that I love music and I want to continue playing the
Colombian guitar, my favourite instrument. I love playing traditional
Colombian music…
PATRICIA: I´m sure that you can find a place to take classes there.

Future : be going to.
To form questions with going to , we invert the auxiliary verb and the subject:
( para elaborar una pregunta con going to cuando inverrtimos de lugar el verbo auxiliar
“going to” y el sujeto)
$ IILUP DWLYHI am going to go swimming.
4 XHVWLRQ Am I going to go swimming?.
$ IILUP DWLYHShe´s going to play football.
4 XHVWLRQ Is she going to play football?
In short answer we use the appropriate auxiliary verb:
Yes, he is / No he isn´t. Yes, I am. / No I´m not.
Is Lucas going to miss Patricia? Yes, he is.
Is he going to milk cows? No, he isn´t
