T0215 2 - Flyer - Safety of Toys-Part 14 en
Scope of Standard:
EN71-14:2014 specifies requirements and test methods for trampolines for domestic use,
their access devices and their enclosure, intended for outdoor and/or indoor use above
ground level by one person at a time.
Summary of Requirements:
Trampolines shall be classified by the size, height and maximum user weight according to
following table:
Mini Medium Large
Frame size (mm) <1500 ≥1500 <2500 ≥2500
Frame height (mm) <350 ≥350 ≥350
Maximum user weight (kg) 25 50 Manufacturer defined

General requirements:
Accident data indicates that the main cause of injury is falling from the mat onto the ground.
The second most common source of injury is poor quality and insufficient resistance of the
connections in the frame. Clause 4 sets requirements for both static and dynamic strength, as
well as for enclosure.
Mini-trampolines intended for indoor use shall be provided with anti-slip feet
Medium and large trampolines shall be equipped with an enclosure but shall not be
equipped with a handrail
Salt spray test and UV-radiation
Prevention of (finger, head & neck, foot) entrapment
Pinching and crushing hazards
Sharp edges, sharp points, protruding parts
Padding requirements (impact resistance)
Strength (frame, enclosures, fixations of padding, access devices, mat)
Mat deflection
Stability
Warnings, marking and instructions
