How Magic Works Workbook

This workbook is designed to help you take magical workings apart to

learn how they work. Print it out, pull out a pen, and starting filling it in.
That’s how you make it work!
In the questions in this workbook, I’m going to introduce you to my
process that you can use to explore how magic works. Each step is bro-
ken into the three parts: An example, a space to write your answers, and a
short explanation of how to apply your answers to your magical practice.
Remember, that the only way you truly change magical practice is
by taking action. This workbook is designed to help you implement the
changes you need to make to change your magical practice and get con-
sistent results. Let’s get started!
Step 1: List out the steps of your magical working as well as the de-
sired result.
Example: I'm doing a sigil working to get a job. I first define the re-
sult. What kind of job I would like. I then use pen and paper to write the
desired result. I cross out repeating letters and use the remaining letters
to create a symbol. I light the symbol on fire and scatter the ashes and
then visualize the symbol on my job applications.
In the Space Below, list the Result and the steps. If you need more
steps just add them below!

Step 2: List the tools you NEED to use to accomplish these steps
and explain why you need them.

Example: I need a pen, paper and lighter. I need the pen and paper to
write out the desired result and turn it into a symbol. I need the lighter
to destroy the paper in order to fire the sigil.

In the space below write down your necessary tools.

Step 3: List the mundane actions you will take and explain how your
magic will play a role in those actions.
Example: When I apply for a job, I will visualize the sigil and im-
print it into my resume and application. When I go to an interview I will
visualize the sigil making me stand out. My mundane actions will be used
to charge and fire the sigil. When I send a resume or go to an interview
it will power the sigil up and shift the momentum of the universe in my
favor.
In the space below right your mundane actions and how magic will
play a role in those actions.

Step 4: This is an optional step, based on if you're working with spir-

its. If you're working with a spirit, why that spirit and what role is that
spirit playing in your magical working?
Example: I'm working with Glasya-Labolas because he's a daemon of
diplomacy. He'll help in my job search by offering advice about what I
can say and how I can stand out.
Note: You don't have to use a traditional spirit. You can use a pop
culture spirit instead.
In the space below explain what spirit you're working with and why
and how that spirit will help you with your goal.

HOW MAGIC WORKS WORKBOOK 5

The 4 steps I've shared here can be applied to other magical work-
ings. Take a working from a book you have and use the steps to walk
through how the working should work. Then analyze the answers and
ask yourself what you would change about the working to make it work
for you.
Example: A spell book requires incense and herbs to be used with a
candle that is burned while chanting a phrase that focuses my conscious-
ness on achieving a result. I find the incense and herbs to be optional and
just use the candle as a focus, while doing the chant and visualizing the
result.
Your turn! Take a magical working out of a book and use the steps
above to take it apart and customize it using what's relevant to you. Then
try the working out and record what the result is.
