The world we live in


Continents
Relative location and size of continents
 Continents are the largest land masses on the earth’s surface.
 There are seven continents in the world out of the seven continents five are
interconnected. Antarctica and Australia are surrounded by water.
 South America and North America are connected by a narrow strip of land called
Isthmus of Panama.
 Africa is also connected to Asia at the Isthmus of the Suez.
 Continents are largest land masses that make up 29% of the earth’s surface area.

Major features of the Continents


 The largest continent is Asia while the smallest is Australia.
 Dead Sea is the lowest elevation in the world and Mount Everest is the highest
point in the world.
Tourism at the Dead Sea
 The Dead Sea which is the 400meter below sea level located between Jordan
and Israel.
 The well-known tourism attraction sites includes:
 Kalia beach
 Qumran and Masada National park
 Mineral beach
 Ahava visitors center
 EinutZukin

The people of the World
A. Major World Language
Language is human speech, either spoken or written according to linguists, there
are about 6000 languages spoken in the world.
 Major world languages are English, Mandarin and French Spanish, Russia and
Arabic.

B. Ancient World Civilization


 Ancient Greece- it was the birth place of Western civilization.
 They made a great contribution in philosophy, architecture, pottery,
sculpture, mathematics, biology and physics.

 Ancient Rome- the first people of Rome were called Latin’s.


 Some of the contributions were laws, Latin alphabet and language, road
construction, and architecture.

Ancient World Civilization


 Ancient China- Starts their civilization in yellow River.
 Some of the most important contributions were philosophy of Confucius, use
of coal, silk, printing and gun powder.

 Ancient Persia- it was established by Cyrus the great in 6th B.C.


 They made a great contribution in the utilization of gold money called Darics.

 The Inca empire- they were South America Indians.


 They made a great contribution in engineering and crafts.
