PROCEDURE SEISMIC PRELOADING

Method

1. Each crew must have a licensed shooter at all time. He, the licensed shooter is fully responsible for
all preloading safe procedures.

2.The preloading crew supervised by the shooter when possible will screw the charges together and
tape them together using the masking tape. This will take place well away from other crew members
and the detonator. Never store explosives and detonators together.There must be distance of 30
meters at all times between the two.

3.The shooter will first check that the area is cleared of equipment and people

4. When the area is safe the shooter will blow his whistle to indicate the area is safe and the
preloading crew is about to load a shothole.

5.The preloading crew at this stage will then check the shothole using the dummy load after checking
the preloading loading poll team will then move away from the hole some ten meters. The shooter will
remain at the shothole.

6.The shooter will then call for the detonator to be brought to the shothole.He will first check that the
ends of the detonator wires are joined together. The shooter will then attach the detonator to the main
charge.The speedy loader will then be taped to the main charge using masking tape.At this point the
plastic string (raffia) will be half hitched up the charge with a half hitch for each individual charge.Do

7.The charge will then be lowered down into the top of the open shothole.The loading poll team will
then be called to the hole with the loading polls.

8.The people around the hole as it being loaded will only be from the preloading crew and they will be
made up of the following,the shooter,detonator man, the plastic string man,and two loading poll men
total five men.

9. All shothole must be loaded to instructed hole depth.Any stuck charges must be re-drilled.

10. Any broken cap wires, dead caps,stuck charges must be reported with the afternoo's radio
report.All holes with the above problems must be re-drilled.

11. After the charge has been loaded the loading polls will be retrieved from the hole only after this
takes place will the detonator be tested. Moving the men away from the hole first.

12. All complated holes will fully tamped using the tamping tool.

13. After the holes has been fully tamped the detonator will be checked again for the second time.All
detonator will be checked two times. One after loading and again after tamping .Must be checked two
times.

14. Level 1.5 meters of slack detonator cable down the shothole after loading. This slack wire is
required for any charge or tamping soil movement.

15.The holes will have the bamboo tripod placed over the hole to mark the shothole drilled.

16. Here are some other important subject that must be followed:
a. Do not put any weight on the detonator wire when loading,let the wire run freely.
b. Do not stand directly over the shothole when loading,keep to the side of the hole.
c. Do not strike or hammer the charge down the shothole with the loading poll apply constant pressure
to the loading polls only.
d. Do not load or handle any explosives during electrical storm.Store in safe place and wait until the
storm has passed.

17. Quality of tamping becomes one of main priority in seismic project, therefore ensure that
preloading crew has worked this truly so that will be got quality of maximum data with level of security
and safety of high job activity.

CREW PRELOADING

Crew preloading,and I am very concerned about more specific to the job crew preloading,from start
checking drill holes, the filling of dynamite into the hole
s drilled, we do tamping after fulling,and checking after tamping,because this is the end of drilling jobs
and steps to go look for data good.  And for the assembly of dynamite,to fill a role performed by
shooter. Shooter set crew, shooter must have lecence from Migas . And always remind to the shooter
and crew preloading to always pay attention to safe distance to place the explosive and exprienced
shooter would know about safety and after charging Ok,we do tamping, tamping must be careful not
to damage the cable, whick will effect the explosive failure and dropping out of the cable,and good
tamping must be solid, not to block out usually agood tamping used, sand, leaves no rot, dry soil and
after Ok, new advance to the next hole.
And specially from villages,we really consider a safe distance explosive charge, used to guide safe
distance,are provided by the client, but we control qualities in the field have really monitor the
condition and situation and as a physical building,because if we can not accuratetely patal cause
harm, due to the explosive power of dynamite.
