Define occupational health & safety?
 Occupational safety and health is a multidisciplinary field
concerned with the safety, health, and welfare of people at
occupation.
What are the goals of OHS?

• Protecting workers from dangers and hazards in the workplace.

• Promote and maintain the highest levels of health for workers in all
occupations.

Difirientiate b/w Occupational Diseases & Work-Related Diseases?

• Occupational diseases, which have a specific or strong

relationship to the occupation, in general with only one causal
factor.
• Work-related diseases with multiple causative factors, as
factors in the work environment may play a role, along with
other risk factors, in the development of such diseases that have
complex causes.
Dercribe occupational health problems by statitical data?

 37% of all cases of back pain, 16% of hearing loss, 13% of

chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 11% of asthma, 8% of
injuries, 9% of lung cancer, 2% of leukaemia and 8% of
depression.
