Introduction

The realms of magick, as we all know, center largely around

the active casting of spells. There are, of course, many
different types of spells, and many different and varied ways

to cast them. Some spells require casting only once to be

effective. Some spells, however, are intended by the

practitioner to be lasting, if not permanent. For these spells,

it can be extremely useful to bind magickal energy to a

physical object, which then becomes a real and lasting link

between the practitioner and the energy of his or her spell.

Such, in very simple terms, is the basis of amulet and

talisman magick.
Amulets and talismans are powerful magickal objects

created by practitioners of the esoteric arts for specific

purposes. They can provide protection, enhance health,

attract prosperity, or any other magickal task to which they

are assigned. They may be as simple as a few symbols
quickly jotted onto a piece of paper and stuffed into a

pocket, or as complex as a fully inscribed metal amulet

dotted with crystals. Regardless of the form they take, their

basic purpose is the same: to contain and sustain the energy

of a practitioner's spell. From this starting point, their

applications are virtually limitless.

This book will provide the practitioner with many symbols

that are commonly employed on amulets and talismans, as

well as instructions on how to create different types of them.

The goal of this book is to act as a complete instructive on

the creation of these magickal objects, giving spellcasters

the necessary information and knowledge needed to begin

crafting their.

Amulets VS. Talismans: What is the

Difference?

The difference between these two categories of magickal

objects is purely linguistic in nature. While the two are

commonly grouped separately, they are, fundamentally, the

same thing.

With regards to this differentiation, it can simply be said

that the word “amulet” applies most properly to any object

that is intended to protect its possessor from danger, harm,

or bad luck. Talismans, on the other hand, are those objects

which attract something positive, such as good luck, health,

or wealth. Both, however, operate on the same principle:

they both act as physical repositories of the magickal energy
you have placed into them in casting a spell over them. As

time passes, they continue to diffuse this energy in

accordance with the requirements on the spell you have cast

on them. In this sense, you can think of them like energetic

trust funds.

Because this difference is so trivial, we will not, in the

context of the remainder of this book, differentiate between
the two, as doing so would only serve to add a layer of

complexity that is not required for the practitioner of magick.

Therefore, from this point forward, the word “amulet” shall

be employed in reference to all magickal objects intended to

contain the energy of a spell over a long period of time.

How Long Can Amulets Last?

Because amulets are fueled by the energy that a spellcaster

puts into them when creating them, their effect is not

indefinite. The length of time that a given amulet will remain

potent is dependent upon two factors: the energetic

requirements of the spell it is being used in, and the amount

of energy that is infused into it in the first place. For
example, a protection spell, being largely passive in nature,

will require much less energy use than a spell intended to

attract love, which is more active in nature. Therefore, an

attraction amulet will consume the energy infused into it

faster than a protection amulet would.

Of course, like any magickal object or spell, amulets can

easily be recharged after they have been created. In a later
section of this book, we will cover basic recharging, as well

as advanced amulet creation spellcraft techniques that will

make an amulet, for all intents and purposes, permanently

effective.

Common Symbols Useful in Amulet

Magick

One of the key components of amulet magick is the use of

symbols. The use of magickal symbols can make an amulet

more powerful and effective in its purpose. Therefore, it is

important for our goals here to discuss many of the most

common magickal symbols that practitioners may use to

create their first amulets. These symbols are drawn from a
multitude of sources across the world, and it is up to the

individual practitioner to decide what symbols best suit his

or her needs.

Runes

Runes, an ancient alphabet from the far north of Europe

used to write Norse, Old Swedish, and other languages of

the region, have been a favorite of those who practice

magick for centuries. The runes you see here are from the
Elder Futhark, the oldest rune alphabet system.

Inguz
is a universal protection symbol, as well as a symbol useful

in the projection of magickal power. Far from simply being a

symbol of protection from physical threats, Inguz can act to

protect against bad luck, ill intent from others, and other

such normal adversities. In this capacity, it can be used to

protect health and prosperity, as well as ward off physical

dangers.

Tiwaz is a rune that represents victory, success, honor, and

glory. This rune serves well in any spell that is intended to

bring wealth or to increase your chances of success in a
given venture. Because of this, it is most frequently

employed in spells that are cast to improve careers or to

bring victory in competition.
Algiz is another protective rune, though slightly different in

its magickal uses from Inguz. Algiz is meant as a spiritual

protection. Commonly incorporated into spells that are

meant to ward off evil, black magick, or the ill will of others,
Algiz is one of the best runes for protection against
malicious forces.
The rune Kenaz is used in spells meant to bring wisdom,

clarity, and understanding. It also represents change for the

better, and can be inscribed on amulets that are intended to

bring about favorable circumstances.

Uruz is one of my personal favorite runes. Representing
strength, power, and will, this rune can be employed in

practically any spell to focus your magickal energies and

increase that spell's chances of success. Inscribed on any

amulet meant to actively bring about a certain result, this

rune will lend power to that amulet.

Isa is a passive rune symbol that strengthens the

properties of all other runes around it. Isa is excellent to add

to an amulet when the other symbols on that amulet all have

similar meanings to each other. However, be aware that if

you engineer an amulet that has contradictory symbols on it,

the addition of the Isa rune will amplify these differences,

making your amulet very unlikely to work as it should.

The Berkano rune deals with matters of the heart, intimacy,
romance, and love. It can be used to bring about new love,

or to refresh old. It is also useful in any spell that has to do

with personal relationships, as it will bring clarity and

stability to them.

With regards to amulet magick, Perthro is the most powerful

rune. Symbolizing as it does magick, the occult, and that

which is hidden, the inclusion of the Perthro rune onto any

amulet will significantly increase its ability to act upon the

world. Used in conjunction with Uruz or Isa, this rune

becomes even more powerful. It is also useful in those spells
that are meant to draw upon psychic abilities.

Alchemical Planetary Symbols

Medieval alchemists employed a series of symbols to

represent the higher magickal properties of the elements with

which they dealt, named according to the celestial bodies
with which these elements were principally identified. In

time, these symbols became commonplace in the world of

magickal practice. Here, we will explore these symbols and

their attributes.

The symbol of Saturn is emblematic of the passage time,

longevity, and wisdom. This symbol, when applied to amulet

magick, will grant the amulet the power to bring duration to

whatever you may elect. For example, it can be used to

protect wealth by bringing duration to your time of

prosperity. This property may also be used in an amulet

intended to bring good health and long life, as this longevity

can also apply to yourself as well.

The alchemical symbol for Venus represents love, affection,

intimacy, and all romantic relationships. This symbol is also

representative of change in these matters, making it useful in

many love spells for healing emotional wounds. Because of

its close association of meaning, this symbol can be used in

conjunction with the Berkano rune to great effect.

This symbol of the Sun is concerned almost entirely with

wealth and worldly success. In a later section of sample

amulets, you will see this symbol form the basis of a

powerful amulet meant to bring wealth and prosperity.

The Mars symbol represents power, strength, combat, and

victory. It is extremely useful in any amulet that is being

used to force a change to occur within a given situation. If,

for example, you were creating an amulet that was meant to

help you advance in your career, this symbol would be well

placed upon it. Note, however, that the highly combative

nature of this symbol makes it ill suited to any type of amulet

that is meant to bring harmony and balance to some aspect
of life. Because of its similar qualities, this symbol and Uruz

can be used together quite well.

The symbol of Jupiter brings good fortune and favorable
circumstances in any endeavor. In good luck amulets, this

symbol is often the most important. Additionally, the symbol

can be paired with others to bring good fortune in a related

endeavor, such as being paired with the symbol of Venus to

bring good luck in matters of love.
The Mercury symbol denotes healing, as well as swiftness
and speed. This is ideal for health and wellness spells, but is

also a useful symbol to add to any amulet whose purpose is

time sensitive. For example, an amulet created to mend a

breaking friendship may benefit from the addition of this

symbol. Be aware, however, that adding this to an amulet will
decrease the length of time that it will be effective.

The moon represents, much like the Perthro rune, all things

mystical, magickal, and arcane. By adding this symbol to an

amulet, you can increase the focus of your magickal energy

upon it. Furthermore, you can include this symbol in a

protection amulet for your home or person that is meant to

ward off evil, as it will conceal you from those who would
wish you harm.

Egyptian Symbols

As a culture which concerned itself greatly with the occult

and arcane, Egypt has long been looked to as a source of

the hidden knowledge of magick. Many of the symbols used

by the priesthood of ancient Egypt are still potent when

applied to amulets today. Of course, there are innumerable

Egyptian symbols, but those that follow here are the most

principally useful.
Perhaps, the most well known of all Egyptian symbols, the

Ankh represents eternal life and divine protection. It is

interesting to note that, unlike any other symbol in the

lexicon you will be presented with here, the Ankh is both a

symbol and an amulet in and of itself. When inscribed onto

another amulet, this symbol lends protective power and

longevity. However, amulets in the shape of the Ankh were

common in ancient Egypt, as they were used as a general

protection against evil.

The Eye of Horus, sometimes also referred to as the Eye of

Ra, is a symbol that denotes power, wisdom, protection, and

great healing powers. This symbol, interestingly, survived in

various forms for thousands of years, eventually becoming

the famous All Seeing Eye of the Freemasons.
While it may appear simple, this symbol holds an enormous
amount of significance. Maat, symbolized here as a platform

upon which all other things exist, was an Egyptian

philosophy of universal balance, harmony, and oneness.

The ancient Egyptians believed that Maat was an active

force that balanced all existence. Inscribing this symbol onto

an amulet invokes harmony, peacefulness, and normalization

of extraordinary circumstances, making it ideal for healing

spells, both physical and emotional, as well as for spells

meant to pull you through personal or financial hardships.

Nebu is an Egyptian ideogram that represented gold. On a

higher level, it is emblematic of all wealth and worldly

success. Use this on amulets meant to provide you with

success in business or financial matters.

Other Useful Symbols

Before proceeding to instructions on creating amulets, we

will look at a few last symbols that have been used

commonly almost all over the world.
The sword is a symbol of combat, dominion, strength and

victory. It can be employed in any amulet that is meant to

give you a victory over someone or something else. It can

also be used on amulets that are meant to undo mistakes of

the past or transform yourself in the present, as the sword is

also representative of severing oneself from one's former

self. Take note: when used as a combat symbol, the tip of the

sword must be drawn pointing outward from the center of

the amulet, and when used for personal transformation, it

must be drawn pointing inward.

The pentagram, or five pointed star, has long been

identified with magick and with the occult. It's meanings are
many, but all have to do with balance. It is held to be
representative of man in perfect harmony with both spirit

and nature, and so has deep significance in the world of

magick. When drawn inscribed within a circle, as shown

above, it is useful for amulets meant to work on aspects of

oneself. When drawn without this circle, it can be added to
amulets that are meant to affect the external world. In this

sense, the circle, itself, acts as a symbol as well.

This ancient Pagan symbol for the season of Fall is
representative of peace and abundance. Inscribed on an

amulet, this symbol will bring about a time of ease and

stability in life. It is also useful for amulets meant to ensure

the success of a certain venture, being as it is indicative of a

rich harvest.
Crafting Amulets

Now that we have explored a few of the various symbols

that can be used to add power to an amulet, we must discuss

the physical creation of those amulets. Many people, when

thinking of a magick amulet, think of an intricately inscribed

piece of precious metal. While these certainly are effective

as amulets, we must realize that not everyone will have the

means and the handiness necessary to craft such an

intricate amulet. Therefore, in discussing the creation of the
physical component of amulets, we will address 5 different

types of amulets. Even if you have no skills at all in making

things or working with your hands, at least 1 one these

classes of amulets will be open to you.

Paper Amulets

This is the class of amulets that literally anyone with a

piece of paper and a writing utensil handy can create. A

paper amulet, just as one might expect, is merely a piece of

paper with symbols drawn onto it. To make it a bit more

powerful, it can be useful to write out, in 1 or 2 sentences,

the intent behind the amulet.

Needless to say, this type of amulet will be fairly weak in

comparison to its more intricate cousins. However, if created

with the proper amount of will and energy, these can still be

reasonably effective. In order to increase their power,

however, it is highly recommended to add an enforcing

symbol, such as the Uruz or Isa runes. As we will see in a

later section dealing with some sample amulet formulas,

these amulets can prove useful even to advanced

practitioners and those who have the ability to craft more
lasting versions.

Wooden Amulets

Creating amulets from wood may seem unusual, but it is

quite effective. Wood, being the once living material of a

tree, has a fairly high capacity to retain magickal energy.

Such amulets can be created simply by carving symbols or
words related to the intent of your spell into a small piece of

wood. Alternatively, if you have the right tools, you can also

burn the symbols into the wood. Electric wood burning tools
are relatively affordable, and very easy to use. With a little

practice, you will find burning even very complex symbols

into the wood to be fairly easy.

As far as the wood for your amulets goes, there are many
different types of wood that are good for many different

types of spells. Here are just a few, and the types of amulets
they will be best suited for.

Elder: Elder is a wood that is useful for amulets meant to

protect. It will ward off evil spirits, as well as guide you away
from physical dangers.

Hickory: Hickory is ideal for any type of abundance or

wealth amulet. This wood is also great for amulets that are
meant to increase your confidence or charisma.

Oak: Something of a universal magickal wood. Besides just

making the best all purpose wands and staffs, the wood of
the oak tree is ideal for almost any wooden amulet. The tree,
as well as its wood, was sacred to the Druidic priests of the

ancient Celts because of its property of amplifying and

projecting magickal energies.

Willow: A powerful healing wood, willow is ideal for any

amulet that is intended to bring physical health, vitality, and

energy.

Ash: Wood from an ash tree is useful in any magick amulet

that involves mental capacities. This wood can be used to

make amulets that increase mental acuity, memory, or

creativity.

Rose: Rosewood can be used to make highly effective

amulets to bring or protect love. Those of you who have

read another of my books, Love Magick, may recall having
seen instructions in that work on creating just such an

amulet from rosewood.

Metal Amulets

Metal amulets are the most commonly thought of type of

magickal amulets. They do, of course, have their downsides.

Not everyone has the necessary skills or tools to work with

metal. However, there are some creative ways to make metal

amulets that do not require blast furnaces or welding

equipment.

One such method is to simply purchase metal blanks,

available through many art suppliers. These are small pieces
of flat, blank metal that you can then carve the appropriate

symbols on with a hard steel knife or a chisel. While still a

little labor intensive, this takes a lot of the work out of

making metal amulets.

Another way to easily create a metal amulet is to simply

purchase an amulet already inscribed with symbols that

relate to the spell you intend to cast on the amulet, and then
to do the enchanting yourself. Thanks to the wonderful

world in which we now live, there are a lot more magickal

practitioners on the internet than you might suppose. This

had led to several online stores opening up to sell magick

supplies to our community. While it is not quite as personal

as an amulet you have created from scratch yourself, this is

certainly a way for practitioners who are less handy to still

have high quality metal amulets at their disposal.

Possibly my favorite method, however, is to create metal

amulets using a substance known as PMC. PMC, or

precious metal clay, is simply a matrix of organic binder in

which tiny particles of a precious metal are evenly spread.

This may sound useless, but the beauty of it is that the clay

can be shaped and inscribed however you like while it is in

its soft, easily workable form. When it is subjected to high
enough temperatures, however, the organic binder burns

away, leaving a solid piece of metal behind in whatever form

you shaped it into before firing it. Firing PMC used to

require a kiln oven, but more recent versions have been

engineered with organic binders that burn off at lower

temperatures, allowing them to be fired with something as

simple as a propane powered heat torch.

One of the best parts about PMC amulets is that you can

shape and inscribe them in any way you want, as well as put
crystals into them before firing. Let us say, for example, that

you wanted to create a silver amulet with a quartz crystal in

the center to act as a reservoir for magickal energy. Using

PMC, this would be all too simple, as it would only require

you to press your crystal into the center of the amulet once
it had been shaped to your satisfaction. This makes creating
even the most intricate and complex of amulets very simple.

Of course, PMC has a few drawbacks of its own. For one

thing, it's expensive. Because there are particles of real

precious metals in it, there is a good bit of cost involved. It

can, however, be worth spending some money to create a

truly high quality amulet. Generally speaking, gold PMC will

run around $200 for a 3 gram package. Silver is much more
economical, at around $65 for a 25 gram package. Copper

and bronze PMCs are also available, at much lower rates.

Besides cost, PMC does require some safety precautions

and an open area in which to fire your amulet. This may

require a little effort and foresight on your part, but again,

it's worth it to create a genuinely great magickal amulet that

you can carry for the remainder of your life.

Crystal and Stone Amulets

These are, by far, the hardest of all amulets to make.
Carving stone is no easy job, especially without the right

tools. Because most people will not undertake such a

project, we won't spend too much time here dealing with
them, but it is still useful to know about them.

By far the easiest way to make a crystal amulet is simply to

scratch the symbols you want on your amulet onto the

surface of the stone. This can be done with a piece of

hardened steel, but it will take time and patience. For this, I

would recommend using a permanent marker to mark your

symbols out on the stone. This will make carving them into it
much, much easier than approaching the process freehand.

For some basic shaping, you can use a rock saw. This will
be a little on the expensive side (around $150 for even the

most basic version), but if you are really wanted a hand cut
stone amulet, this will be the way to go.

Everyday Objects as Amulets

Of course, not all amulets have to be made from scratch. In

fact, most amulets are made from everyday objects that

practitioners already have laying around. Practically

anything can be made into an amulet, provided that it is not

made from glass, plastic, resin, or other amorphous materials.

Some favorite go-tos when it comes to creating amulets are

rings, necklaces, metal charms, and key rings. However,

pretty much anything can, with the right spells, become a

type of amulet. Often, however, it is best to purchase

something with which you do not already have a long time

connection to turn into an amulet, because whatever

energies you have unconsciously expressed while that

object was nearby may already have tainted it energetically.
Often, when creating a new amulet for myself, I'll scour

around local and online antique shops to find antique rings

or charms to form the basis of my amulet.

Of course, even with an already made object, it is still very

useful to carve symbols related to the type of spell you are

casting upon it. For this reason, I would strongly urge you
to also equip yourself with the necessary tools to do so.
Something so simple as a set of basic engraving tools will

allow you to properly carve the symbols onto the surface of

whatever object you elect to transform into a magickal

amulet.

Casting Your Spell on the Amulet

Of course, selecting the symbols you wish to use and

creating your amulet is only the physical part of making a

magickal amulet. The spell you cast on it, however, is

infinitely more important. An amulet that has not had

magickal energy and intent imparted to it is an empty vessel

that will serve no purpose.

Casting a spell upon an amulet can be as simple as

transferring your energy to it directly, along with the

intention of the spell. This, coupled with the symbols you

have engraved upon your amulet, will do the trick. However,

you can also design a more complex ritual around the

creation of the amulet. While different practitioners will have

their own preferences in these rituals, here are a few fairly

universal tips:

Invoke Earth Elemental Energy: This is useful because the

very purpose of creating an amulet is to bring magickal

energy into a physical object. Earth energy, which is good

for grounding other energies, can therefore held to bind

your spell to the object you have created. For this reason,

using a quartz crystal (which will not have any effect on the
spell otherwise) to direct your energy into the amulet can be
extremely useful.

Incorporate Candles into Your Ritual: Burning candles will

add significant energy to your spell. Select candles whose

color matches the intention behind your spell. For example, if

you were creating an amulet meant to bring love, you might

burn red candles as part of the consecration. Just remember

to always let your candles burn down completely.

Speak Your Intent Aloud or Write it on the Amulet: The most

important, as well as powerful, component of any ritual spell

is to state your intentions. This lends magickal power to

your spell and increases its chances of success. You may

find it helpful to write out or at least think of the words you

want to say over your amulet ahead of time, and then to

repeat them several times while you pour your energy into
the object in question.

Charge Your Amulet with Energy Multiple Times: There is, of

course, a limit to how much energy you will be able to put

into your amulet in one sitting. If you wish to make your

amulet more powerful, you may want to cast the spell over it

multiple times. Be careful, however, that if you do this, you

cast the spell in the exact same way every time. Doing
otherwise will begin putting slightly different spells into

effect on the same object, which will almost certainly lead to

a decrease in the effectiveness of the amulet overall.

Represent the Outcome in Your Ritual: In casting a spell, it is

always imperative that you have some idea of what the

ultimate goal of that spell is. Representing that end goal

symbolically within your ritual will help you to focus your
magickal energy on achieving it. For example, let us say you

were creating an amulet that was meant to bring you wealth

and prosperity. To represent this outcome, you might take as

much money as you have in cash from your wallet, and

cover your amulet with it. This energetically binds that

amulet to the ultimate goal that you have in mind for it.

Above all, remember that magick is a deeply personal

practice and experience. The amulet you are enchanting with

this spell may well stay with you for the rest of your life. For
that reason, I would strongly encourage you to design your

own ritual using some of the principles we have discussed

here. In the next section, you'll see some sample rituals for
creating specific amulets. Of course, you can simply use

these exactly as laid out, but your magickal journey will be

better advanced by taking the time to create your own.
Some Sample Amulets

Now that we have covered the basics of inscribing,

creating, and magickally charging amulets, let's bring all of

these ideas together with some sample amulets. Following,
you will be given instructions for creating 5 different amulets

that will draw on the principles that we have discussed up to

this point.

These amulets will range from very simple to fairly complex,

but I would recommend that you read through each of them

to get an idea of how they are created.

An Emergency Protection Amulet

This is, quite literally, the simplest protection amulet that it

is possible to construct. It is intended to be an emergency

amulet when you feel that you are threatened by some evil

and have no other magickal defenses at your disposal. Keep

in mind that, due to it's simplicity, it is not as powerful as a
more complete protection amulet, which we will go over later.

However, it's still infinitely better than nothing.

To create this amulet, all you will need is a piece of paper

and a pen or pencil. In the upper left hand corner, draw the
Eye of Horus. In the upper right hand corner, draw the Algiz

rune. In the lower left, draw the Moon, and in the lower right,
the Ankh. In the center of the paper, write the following
words:

By these symbols shall I be protected from evil

By my power shall I be immune to harm

By my will shall I foil all disaster and misfortune

Underneath these three lines, draw the runes Uruz, Isa, and
Perthro, along with the symbol of Mercury. Because of the
fact that this amulet is being created so quickly, it is helpful

to make use of all three reinforcing runes to lend more power

to it, and the symbol of Mercury will lend speed to the spell.

Now, pour as much of your energy as you possibly can into

this makeshift amulet. It may well be that you feel extremely

fatigued afterward, but that's alright. After being activated

by your magickal energy, this amulet will serve, at least

temporarily, as an effective guard against malicious spirits,
negative energies, and misfortunes.
The Ultimate Wealth Amulet

In contrast to the previous, incredibly simple amulet, this

one will be very complex. It is the most powerful wealth

amulet formula that I know of, and will serve you well in all
financial matters once it has been created.

In a somewhat contradictory manner, this amulet will cost a

good bit of money to make. I would remind those of you

who are in desperate financial situations that this is not the

only way to use magick to improve your circumstances, and

that you would be best to find a method with a lower

material cost. Be that as it may, this amulet formula is
incredibly powerful, and invokes many different energies to

not only attract wealth, but also to help you manage it well

for long term success and prosperity.

To create this amulet, you will need a package (two if you
want a larger amulet) of the gold PMC clay that we

discussed earlier. Form it into a disk, with a hole in the top if

you wish to hang it on a string around your neck. Press a
small piece of jade or malachite into the center of the disk

(note: it can help if you raise a small ridge of the clay around
the gemstone, just to hold it into the amulet more tightly).

Once you have done this, you will take a knife or other
small tool and inscribe the symbols for Nebu, Fall, and

Jupiter, along with the Kenaz rune, around the stone. This
completes the front of the amulet.

Turning to the back, you will inscribe the symbol of the Sun

on the back, placing the dot of the symbol in the very center
of the amulet. This is the only symbol that you will draw on

the back of the amulet. In the empty space within the top
half of the circle, inscribe the word “Wealth”, and in the

lower half, inscribe the word “Abundance”

Once you have fired the amulet (keep in mind, by the way,

for those of you who have never worked with PMCs before,
that the amulet will shrink down appreciably during the firing

process as the organic binder burns away), you are finished

with the physical creation of this incredibly effective wealth

amulet. Now it is time to cast the spell over it in order to fully

activate it.

For this spell, you will need:

Money: Anything will work. Use the currency of your own

country, if possible. Bills of any denomination will do.

7 Gold or Green Candles: Whichever you prefer and can get

is fine. If you want, you can also use a mixture of the two. If
you can get them, I recommend long, tapered candles for
this type of spell.

Piece of Quartz: It doesn't have to be too large, just a simple

quartz crystal or sphere.

To cast the spell, lay out whatever money you have

selected on the floor or on a table. This will be a bed that

your amulet will rest on. If you have any loose gold or silver
coins or jewelry, you can add them to this as well. Organize

the 7 candles in a circle around this bed of money, and place

the golden amulet on it. Light the candles, and then say the
following words while putting as much of your will, focus,

and energy into the amulet:

Of gold and for gold have I created you

Bring to me the riches I desire
Give me the wisdom to retain my riches

Grant me the fortune never to lose them

Of gold, for gold, now, so mote it be.

Once you have completed the incantation, continue

pouring your energy into the amulet for as long as you can

sustain it. When you are exhausted, allow the candles to

burn out completely, and let the amulet sit on the bed of
money overnight. Your amulet is now complete.
An Oaken Victory Amulet

If you are competing for a promotion, in a legal dispute, or

just want to become the master of your life and

surroundings, here is an amulet for you. This simple, 3
symbol victory amulet will aid you in all of your endeavors,

bringing you success and victory in all struggles.

To begin making this amulet, you need a piece of oak wood

that has been cut into a flat disk (preferably one that is small
enough to carry with you in a pocket or briefcase). While it

is okay to use any piece of oak, the older the tree it came
from, the better it will be for this purpose.

You will also need the following items:

Knife or Chisel: Something to inscribe the symbols and

words. Because there is script involved, I recommend

something reasonably small. You will also want to make sure

that it is sharp, as oak is a very hard, tight grained wood.

War Water: A common ingredient in spells of this type.

Many practitioners probably already have some of it on

hand, but just in case you don't, it's reasonably easy to

make. To make it, simply fill a jar with water and place a piece

of iron in it. If you have a ruby or garnet handy, you can also
put it into the jar, but it isn't strictly necessary. Tape a piece

of paper with the symbol of Mars drawn on it on the outside

of the jar, and let it sit for one week. You now have War
Water, a magickal ingredient that is used to lend power to a

wide variety of spells.

1 Iron Nail and Hammer: The size and type do not matter, but

the nail must be made of pure iron. These are often hard to
find in hardware stores, but many online suppliers carry

them for the restoration of vintage houses and furniture.

Red or Black Paint and Paintbrush: Just to make the symbols

stand out a bit more against the light oak wood.

To begin, carve the symbols of the sword, Mars, and the

Uruz rune on one side of the amulet with your knife or

carving tool. Next, flip it over, and on the other side engrave

the words “Bring me victory”.

Next, you will sprinkle each side of the amulet lightly with

War Water. Allow it to sit on the amulet for about 15

minutes. Then, pound the nail straight through the piece of

oak.

With the nail still in, begin imparting your energy to the

amulet (take note, in this spell, the role of the grounding

earth energy is actually fulfilled by the iron nail, rather than
by a crystal). Again, you want to put as much of your

energy into the amulet as you can. Once you have finished,
leave the nail in the amulet.

Repeat filling the amulet with your energy every day for
one week. Once you have done this, hammer the nail back

out through the piece of wood. Your victory amulet is now

complete, and can be carried with you or left in your home,
as you see fit.
A Runic Protection Ring

This particular amulet formula has much in common with

the emergency protection amulet we discussed earlier. This,

however, is a much more complete and permanent version.
For this amulet, we will use only runic symbols, and will be

using a ring rather than something we have crafted

ourselves.

The basis of this amulet is a plain silver band. No stones,

engravings, or textures on it are necessary. You can buy

such a ring for only about $50 at any number of jewelry

stores.

You will also need the following:

Engraving Tool: Necessary for carving the symbols onto the

ring. Fortunately, silver is reasonably soft, so it isn't too

labor intensive.

Quartz Crystal: As before, any quartz crystal will do.

Bowl of Water: It doesn't have to be huge, just so long as

there is enough water to completely submerge the ring.

Start by carving the runes Algiz and Inguz on the outside

of the silver band. Next, you will carve the runes Perthro and

Tiwaz on the inside of the band. (Note, this is delicate work,

and engraving inside the band can be difficult. Just take it
slow, and it will come out looking right).

Once the ring has been engraved, you will place it into the
bowl of water, and then place the piece of quartz immediately

on top of it. Place your hands over the quartz crystal, and
begin to impart your energy into the ring through the

crystal. As you do so, say the following words:

Bring protection by silver, quartz, and runes

Allow no harm to come to me

Let all that wish me ill be thwarted by this power

Once again, the more of your own energy you can put into
this, the more effective and powerful the amulet will be.

Unlike the Victory Amulet, for example, this ring of

protection is a largely passive form of magick. It will,
therefore, not be necessary to impart energy to it over and

over again, as the power within it will lie dormant until it is

needed.
An Amulet to Bring You Health and Longevity

It is not entirely inaccurate to say that good health is the

most valuable thing in life, and that everything else we

accomplish springs from properly taking care of ourselves.

For this reason, much magick deals with the health of the

physical body. The following amulet will help to bring you

good health and long life.

This is an example of a stone amulet. Of course, there are

other ways to make an amulet that will accomplish the same
ends as this one, but it seems only fitting that we should

represent every type of amulet here. For this amulet, you will

need a piece of turquoise, which is a stone whose energetic

properties are well geared toward the healing magicks. It will

need to be fairly large, as you will be carving multiple

symbols onto its surface. Keep in mind, for purposes of not

breaking the bank, that the turquoise does not need to be

fine jewelry grade. You can easily find polished turquoise
cabochons online or at a local rock and mineral shop for

reasonable prices.

You will also need:

Engraving Tool or Other Sharp, Hard Instrument: Scratching

symbols into stone is far from easy, but with a little patience,
it can be done. Make sure that whatever you use is small
enough to manage the fine lines necessary for small

symbols.
To make the amulet, simply carve the symbol of Saturn and

the symbol of Mercury, along with the Kenaz rune, onto the
surface of the stone.

Next, you will begin adding your energy directly to the

stone. Because this is a healing amulet, however, you will

actually want to create an energetic flow, whereby you

impart your energy into the stone and allow it to then flow

back into you. This is to attune your amulet to your body

and its energies. It can also be helpful to envision your

body's energetic field as a mass of golden light. If there are

any injuries or illnesses you know of that plague you,

envision them as patches of blackness. Feel the energy from
the amulet attacking these areas of negative energy and

replacing them with positive energy. Once you have

established a good energetic flow, impart a final amount of

energy into the amulet, and allow it to remain there.

Because the amulet itself is a crystal, there is little need for

any type of grounding earth energy to be added to this

spell.

Recharging Amulets

As we discussed in an earlier section of this book, amulets

do not last forever. Their longevity is determined by how

much energy you put into them initially and how much is
required for them to do what they have been created to do.

For this reason, it becomes necessary, from time to time, to

recharge your amulets.

To do this, you have two basic options. The first, and most
obvious, is to simply pour more of your raw energy into the

amulet. Since you have already cast a spell on it that is

bound to whatever symbols you may have carved, as well as
to the object itself, it will work. Alternatively, you can

recreate the original ritual you used in casting the spell. If

you do this, however, make sure to be precise. You don't

want to put an extra spell that will in some way work against

your original spell on the amulet.

As to how often you should do this, it really depends on

just what type of amulet you have, and how much energy
you were able to put into it during its creation. Generally

speaking, I recommend recharging your amulets about once

every year, though many can go far longer than that without
needing it. It never hurts to err on the side of caution.

Additionally, you can connect with the amulet energetically

and try to feel how much of the energy of the original spell

remains. You must be fairly energetically sensitive to

determine this with any accuracy, but with practice, you can
become very good at telling when your amulets are reaching

the end of their effective life.

Advanced Techniques for Making

Amulets Permanent

Obviously, not all magickal objects lose their potency over

time. There are two methods by which amulets can be made

to be, basically, permanent. The first is to attach the amulet's

power to your own energy, and give it permission to draw on

your magickal power as needed to fulfill its purpose. The

second is to allow it to draw energy from the multitude of

potential sources around it.

Tying an Amulet to Your Own Energy

In order for an amulet to draw upon your energy, you must

state clearly in the spell that you use to create it that your

permission is given for it to do so. While you can write your

own version, here is a generic version of a line you might

add to a verbal spell to accomplish this:

Upon me forever may this spell draw, that it might gain

power from my power.

In addition to a simple verbal command, you must also

create entanglement between yourself and the amulet. To do

this, you can use the energy transferring technique

described in the creation of the turquoise healing amulet to

create a flow of energy between yourself and the amulet. It is
also helpful, if you mean to do this, to carve your own name

somewhere onto the amulet itself, and overlay it with a

circumscribed pentagram.

Needless to say, this method has its share of drawbacks.

For starters, the amulet can draw energy from you at

inconvenient times, which might interfere with other

spellcraft that you are working on at the time. Also, creating
multiple amulets like this presents a serious problem, as it

can create a frequent energy drain on you. At most, I would

recommend using this for your most important amulet, a

protection amulet for example.

Creating Amulets that Charge Themselves

The far better, though slightly more complex way to go

about this is simply to create an amulet that can draw its

power from the countless sources of energy that surround it

each and every day. Sunlight, wind, energies of the people

you are around, and even the energy of the Earth itself can

be funneled into your amulet. Amulets created to work on

this basis are, more or less, eternally effective.

To make an amulet like this, you will add an extra step to

your creation ritual. Take the object that you are

transforming into an amulet in your hands, close your eyes,

and sense it on an energetic level. You want to all but unite

your energy with that of the object, so focus and take your

time. Once you have done this, visualize the object as a dark
hole, into which other energies are drawn. Now, feel the
ambient energy that surrounds the amulet being drawn into

it, and say the following words, or your own variant thereof:

Let all things now serve to fuel my spell

Let all energies be brought to bear within it

Whatever object you turn into an amulet, carve the Perthro

rune onto it when this process is complete. Even if that rune
already appears on the object, duplicate it, as one symbol

must be dedicated to this task.

In order to pull this off, the practitioner must be able to not

only connect very deeply with the energies of the object in

question, but also with all of the other energies surrounding

it. For this reason, only more experienced practitioners will

be able to successfully create such an amulet. However,
practice makes perfect. If you are not yet to the level of

making an amulet like this, pursue your energy work with

this as an eventual goal, as it is extremely useful to be able

to do.

Conclusion and a Word From the Author

I hope that you have found this primer on amulet magicks

both practical and enlightening. Making use of amulets is an

excellent way to advance your skills and effectiveness in the

magickal arts. Even if you are new to these practices, I would

strongly encourage you to practice making basic amulets,

such as the Emergency Protection Amulet we discussed

earlier, to begin to get the feel for it.

Above all, remember that the amulets described in this

book, along with the symbols, are far from a comprehensive

list of all possible amulets. Indeed, due to the infinite nature

of magick, such a work would not be possible. While the

amulets you have been taught to make in these pages are

effective and very useful, you should experiment with

creating your own, as you will find it to be more beneficial to
your development as a magickal practitioner in the long run.

If you have enjoyed this book and have the time and
inclination to do so, I would ask the small favor of leaving an

honest review on the page from which you purchased it.

When I began writing these primers on the magickal arts, I

could never have imagined the popularity they have

enjoyed. It gives me great pride to see that readers, such as
yourself, have selected my writings to educate themselves

on arcane and occult practices. My goal now is to make my

future works better than my past ones, and to bring the

wondrous powers of magick to even more who can benefit

by its usage. For this reason, I would very much appreciate

honest feedback, as it will help me to create even better work

going forward.

My thanks, and a blessing on all of your magickal

endeavors,
Ralph Eicher.
