Sharifah A. Alsagoff (1987), in Mok Soon Sang (2012), perceives developmental psychology as a
study of factors that determine human behaviour as well as changes in abilities, personalities,
motivations and social characteristics based on certain time stages. Developmental psychology is the
scientific study of human growth and development in aspects such as physical, mental, emotional,
personality, individual differences and lifelong behaviour.

Educational Psychology is a sub-discipline of psychology which concerns with theories and problems
in education.

Educational psychology provides much guidance to teachers in terms of enhancing the efficiency of
the learning process in varying situations such as:
