Bondolfi now a no go area, over 100 test positive to Covid-19

By Correspondent

Catholic run Bondolfi Teachers College is now a no go area for any outsider and no one will be
allowed to leave after the institution recorded 103 Covid-19 positive cases.

Addressing the media during a press conference yesterday, Provincial Medical Director (PMD),
Dr Amadeus Shamhu said the institution has been locked down and is now a Covid-19 hotspot.

“We have since declared Bondolfi a Covid-19 hotspot and students have been placed on a 14 day
quarantine. No visitors will be allowed and no one will be allowed to leave the college,” said
Shamhu.

He also said that the first case is isolated at Rujeko Isolation Centre and is stable.

“We are conducting tests which will be send to Harare to determine the type of variant which we
are dealing with. Our index case is isolated at our Rujeko Isolation Centre and is in a stable
condition,” he said.

There are fears that the Indian vaccine might have hit the province and the specimens which will
be send to Harare will determine the type of variant at Bondolfi.

However, contact tracing is underway but the index case reportedly doesn’t have a travel history
in recent days.

103 people inclusive of students and staff have tested positive to the virus and are quarantined at
the institution for 14 days.
