The chiefs are not saying anything
because they have been bribed,”
said a villager who declined to be
named.
Another villager said that the
Zanu PF Government has a record
of evicting people without com-
pensation and she cited villagers
evicted from Tokwe-Mukosi Dam
area more than eight years ago
who have neither received com-
pensation nor are properly reset-
tled. He also cited those affected
by Cyclone Idai in Chimanimani in
2019 who still live in tents despite
promises of assistance from Gov-
ernment.
“The Chinese are not good inves-
tors wherever they go in the
world. They loot resources and
leave the host country and people
with nothing to show for their
exploited resources.
“We hear that they now want
us off our land so that they can
exploit our minerals. We are going
to get nothing for the degradation

struction in some parts of Masv-
ingo Province where it damaged
schools, homes and bridges leav-

back in 2013 and 2014 because
we had great vision for Zimbabwe.

Ridicule disability after your death
We do appreciate government efforts targeted at
improving the lives of disabled people. We now have
a Disability Affairs department in the Ministry of Public
Service, Labour and Social Welfare that is there to
solely deal with disability issues which before were
tucked in different ministries and remained unat-
tended. The National Disability Policy was recently
launched by the president himself. No one chooses
disability. Some people are born disabled some
become disabled later in life due to accidents, illness,
old age and other causes. Disabled people are human
beings just like any abled human being. They deserve
to be given their rights and respect as human beings.
Because disability comes with different forms of
disfigurement or strange behaviours the abled tend to
stigmatise those that are disabled. They are laughed
at, segregated, shunned and seen as subhuman. Their
disability is often seen as inability but disability does not
necessarily translate to inability. Given the space and
opportunities disabled people can surprise the abled
by what they can do.
Policies without concrete action remain useless docu-
ments gathering dust on shelves. It is one thing to set
up a Disability Affairs department and another for the

Fired Tongogara CEO appears in court sha allegedly misinformed

cy which did not even have
an active workshop. He
allegedly paid the company
but it never delivered the
equipment.
In the second charge Rufa-

on of UCHRRA advocacy officer Bernard Dachi
who passed on this morning(Thursday) at St
Anthony Hospital, he was 44.
UCHRRA chairperson Josphat Tizirai confirmed
the news to The Mirror and described Dachi
as a hardworking person who was passionate “Moving with latest technology”

“Yes its true I have received the sad news, it’s
the saddest experience that we ever had as an
organisation,”said Tizirai.
He described Dachi as a loyal person who was
geared to seeing democracy being displayed

displayed, he was a human rights defender
and Zimbabwe at large had lost somebody
who wanted to see service delivered to
residents,”said Tizirai.
“I have lost a comrade, friend and someone
who was passionate about driving Chiredzi to
greater heights.,”said Tizirai.
Dachi joined the then Chiredzi Residents and
Ratepayers Association in 2009 as an executive
member. He rose to become a vice secretary
and when CHRRA splitted to become UCHRRA
he became UCHRRA secretary.
He rose to become the Association’s advocacy
officer a position he was holding by the time
of his death.

labs) Covid-19 Laboratory Testing
has been certified and awarded
five stars, the highest possible rat-
ing, by the Africa Society for Labo-
ratory Medicine (ASLM), resulting
in its being included on the Africa
CDC’s Trusted Travel Platform.
The platform has been established
by the Africa Centres for Dis-
ease Control (CDC) to harmonise
Covid-19 certification for exit from
and entry to African Union mem-
ber states and to curb sub-optimal
or fake Covid-19 test certificates.
Cimas Medlabs on Friday (June 4)
passed the ASLM Covid-19 test-
ing audit. It will now be listed on
the Africa CDC Covid-19 Trusted
Travel portal (https://africacdc.org/
trusted-travel/).

Moyo said the certification was a
major achievement.
“We are the only private lab so
far accredited after the Reference
Lab, which was only accredited on
Wednesday,” she said.
Cimas Healthcare Services General
Manager, Dr Sacrifice Chirisa, said
the audit process that resulted in
the certification was rigorous.
“There was a rigorous Covid
testing audit from pre-analytical
to analytical and post-analytical
stages. The audit included staff
competence assessment,” he said.

Quality assurance manager San-
dra Mavuto said ensuring the
highest standards and reliability
of test results had always been
the hallmark of Cimas Medlabs.
“We were the first medical
clinical laboratory in Zimbabwe
to attain ISO 15189 Accredita-
tion, the international standard
for medical laboratories, which
we obtained in 2014. We have
passed each and every annual
scrutiny required to maintain
this accreditation,” she said.

doubt the reason why the Min-
istry of Health and Child Care,
through its director of labora-
tory services, Dr Raiva Simbi,
recommended Cimas Medlabs
for the Covid-19 testing certifi-
cation,” she said.
Cimas has been at the forefront
in the fight against Covid-19. It
was quick to introduce Covid19
testing and has been part of
the CZI led Business Prepared-
ness Prevention and Response
Initiative (BPPRI) to mobilise
resources to equip public and
private hospitals to effectively
treat Covid-19 patients.
BPPRI includes Business Member
Organisations, namely Chamber
of Zimbabwe Industries, Cham-
ber of Mines, Zimbabwe Na-
tional Chambers of Commerce,
Employers Confederation of
Zimbabwe, Bankers Association
of Zimbabwe, the Insurance
Council of Zimbabwe and the
Tourism Business Council for
Zimbabwe.
It is also the Health Advisor to
the BPPRI Covid-19 vaccination
programme to complement the
public sector programme.
“It is pleasing to know that our
Covid-19 testing has met the
rigorous standards of the Africa
Centres for Disease Control and
that those obtaining a negative
certificate from our laboratory
should be able to enter other
countries in Africa with little
difficulty, when it comes to the
validity of their test results,” Mrs
Moyo said.

BUHERA-A Buhera man has been arrested for

allegedly killing his girlfriend over infidelity al-
legations.
Shadreck Murimi of Bwanya village chief Makoni
assaulted Besta Zamba of Denhera village chief
Makoni after accusing her of cheating.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson
Inspector Luxson Chananda said the incident oc-
curred on June 6 at Munodamafaro bottle store
and investigations into the matter are underway.
It is allegedly that Murimi and Zamba were drink-
ing beer at Munodamafaro bottle store at around
1700hrs.Murimi accused Zamba of cheating with
other men.An altercation broke up leading into
Murimi kicking Zamba on the forehead.Zamba
fell down and started bleeding profusely.
Murimi was refrained by other patrons.
Inspector Chananda said at around 2200hrs, the
two decided to go home. On their way, Murimi
started hitting Zamba with a stick. Passersby tried
to stop the fight but failed because Murimi had
become so violent.
Zamba was found dead the following morning
along the same footpath that the incident hap-
pened
A police report was made leading to Murimi's
arrest.

CHIPINGE – A 37-year-old man was found hang-
ing near Gain Shop in the industrial area of Chipinge
at 8am yesterday, the Police has confirmed.
Tichaona Ganda of number 1929 Gaza O allegedly
had a squabble with his wife Ropafadzo Chakona
and brother-in-law only identified as Chakona a week
ago. Ganda was found hanging from a tree branch in
a maize field. Wearing a red trousers, a white shirt and
a tie, he used a white and blue rope to tie around his
neck.
Officer Commanding Chipinge District Chief Sup
Kennedy Nyaumwe confirmed the case and said he
was waiting for further details.
Ganda’s nephew Zacharia Mufuka told Chipinge
Times that the deceased tried to stop Ropafadzo from
working at a second hand flea market owned by the
latter’s brother in town and they had a disagreement.
Ropafadzo left the husband and stayed with the
brother for the last four days. The deceased visited her
at the brother-in-law’s house and failed to resolve the
issue. Ganda was last seen in public at around 6pm
on Wednesday and his relatives were looking for him
until they heard yesterday that there was a man found
hanging nearby. The late Tichaona Ganda.

ODZI – Police have arrested Nerere Hamabungu

(37) of Village 6 Arda Transau for allegedly kill-
ing his workmate.
It is alleged that on Sunday last week at around
830pm, Hamabungu approached Taurai Charu-
mika (49) his workmate at Chikonga Mine, Odzi
accusing him of having an affair with his wife.
Hamabungu used open hands to assault Charumi-
ka and later picked a log and hit him several times
on the left rib and left the scene.
Charumika was taken to Victoria Chitepo Hospital
where he died on admission.

Magura Mhaka appointed new Kyle Prep head

MASVINGO – Kyle Preparatory,
one of the leading elite private
schools in Masvingo has ap-
pointed Magura Mhaka as the
new head.
The appointment was made
by the Kyle Preparatory School
Board and Mhaka takes over
with effect from June 1,2021.
The Mirror had an interview
with Mhaka, a school head
who has wide experience from
heading several schools. Mhaka
replaces Willain Weirderman
who led Kyle Prep for 12 years
and retired early this year to
relocate to South Africa.
Before joining Kyle Prep, Mhaka
was the headmaster at Petra
College Junior for seven years
since 2014.
Mhaka describes his latest ap-
pointment as exciting and looks
forward to making a positive
impact and taking over from
where his predecessor left.
“I’m excited about this new
responsibility. I look forward to
working well with the parents
and the school. I hope to bring
a meaningful contribution to
the institution,” said Mhaka.
Mhaka was born in February
1966 in Dewure, Gutu. He
attended Tanga Primary and
Mutero Mission in Gutu. In
1986 he enrolled at Mutare
Teachers’ College and special-
ized in Geography and Environ-
mental Studies.
He began his teaching career in
1990 in Manicaland and taught
at several schools including St
Theresa in Rusape, St Joseph in
Mutare, Murahwa Hill and Bar-
inga Primary School in Mutare.
He moved to Harare where he
was deputy head at Hartmann
House Preparatory School under
St. Georges College from 2003
to 2013. He moved to Bulawayo
from 2014 to 2021 at Petra Col-
lege Junior.
Mhaka is a holder of a degree in
Education with Zimbabwe Open
University.
He is married to Jessica Mhaka
Magura Mhaka. and they have five children.

her debut 30 poem anthology for her 18th
birthday.
Mususa, a former Chirichoga High pupil who
will turn 18 on April 5, 2022 told The Mir-
ror that she has already begun compiling her
anthology urging the girl child to pursue their
dreams against all odds.
“I have been writing and reciting poems since
I was a child under the tutelage of Adnos
Chikomo, a law lecturer at Great Zimbabwe
University and my mother Dzidzai Mutevedzi

“My editor is Linda Masarira and some of my
poems are A fine line between black and white,
I am a fruit tree, Africa, Masvingo, Devolution
and Wezhira huya uone,” said Mususa.
The poems are in Shona and English.

started reciting poems when I was 5 years old.
