2ND PERFORMANCE TASK IN

SCIENCE
MALITBOG GEOTHERMAL POWER STATION

The Malitbog Geothermal Power Station is a


232.5 MW geothermal power plant or an earth steam
turbined electric generator—the world's largest
geothermal power plant under one roof located
in Malitbog, Kananga, Leyte, Philippines. The
power plant is one of four operating in the Leyte
Geothermal Production Field. The power plants
serve 10 million households in Visayas with an
average of 160 kiloWatthour per Household of 3 per
month. The other 7 million is served by the Panlipin-on Geothermal Power of 100 Megawatts.
Formerly owned and operated by the California Energy under a build-operate-transfer scheme known as
CE Luzon, it was transferred to PNOC-EDC in 2007, and since 2009 has been owned and operated
privately by the Energy Development Corporation.
In November 2013, the plant was damaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda and restored operations in January
2014.
The Smokey Mountains in the eastern parts of Kananga and Ormoc is Leyte's pride home of five major
geothermal power plants (former Leyte Geothermal Power Plant of NPC; Upper Mahiao, Malitbog and
Mahanagdong A and B) and four optimization geothermal power plants (Tongonan, Malitbog,
Mahanagdong A and B) all privately owned and operated by the Energy Development Corporation.

GEOTHERMAL POWER
Geothermal power is power generated by geothermal energy.
Technologies in use include dry steam power stations, flash
steam power stations and binary cycle power stations.
Geothermal electricity generation is currently used in 26
countries, while geothermal heating is in use in 70 countries.
As of 2019, worldwide geothermal power capacity amounts to
15.4 gigawatts (GW), of which 23.86 percent or 3.68 GW are
installed in the United States. International markets grew at an
average annual rate of 5 percent over the three years to 2015, and
global geothermal power capacity is expected to reach 14.5–
17.6 GW by 2020. Based on current geologic knowledge and technology the GEA publicly discloses,
the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) estimates that only 6.9 percent of total global potential has
been tapped so far, while the IPCC reported geothermal power potential to be in the range of 35 GW to
2 TW.[3] Countries generating more than 15 percent of their electricity from geothermal sources
include El Salvador, Kenya, the Philippines, Iceland, New Zealand, and Costa Rica.
Geothermal power is considered to be a sustainable, renewable source of energy because the heat
extraction is small compared with the Earth's heat content. The greenhouse gas emissions of geothermal
electric stations are on average 45 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour of electricity, or less than 5
percent of that of conventional coal-fired plants.
As a source of renewable energy for both power and heating, geothermal has the potential to meet 3-5%
of global demand by 2050. With economic incentives, it is estimated that by 2100 it will be possible to
meet 10% of global demand.
20 VARIOUS RECIPES OF SANDWICH
CLASSIC EGG MAYO SANDWICH

Ingredients
3 hard-boiled eggs, cut into small cubes
3/4 cup Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise
12 slices white bread
3 bunches of curly lettuce, washed and dried from excess water (optional)
2 pieces ripe salad tomatoes, sliced (optional)
Steps
Combine boiled eggs and Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise in a bowl. Mix well. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar according to taste.
To add a healthy twist to your Classic Egg Sandwich, you can arrange 3-4 pcs of lettuce leaves on the bread then spread mixture over the lettuce,
top with 1-2 slices of tomatoes then cover with another slice. Enjoy with a glass of milk and fruit slices!

HONEY LIME CHICKEN SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 pc chicken breast fillet
4 tbsps lime juice
4 tbsps honey
1 tsp rosemary
as needed oil
2 slices ciabatta, toasted
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
2 pcs lollo rosso lettuce
1/4 cup mango, diced
1/4 cup cucumber, diced
1 pc cooked chicken
Steps
Marinate chicken in lime juice, honey, and rosemary and season well. Pan-fry until cooked and slice into strips.
Spread Lady’s Choice Chicken Spread on ciabatta then fill with lolo rosso, mango, cucumber and chicken strips.

TUNA, CORN, MUSHROOM SANDWICH

Ingredients
3 tbsps Lady's Choice Tuna Spread
4 tbsps Tuna flakes
4 tbsps corn kernels
4 pcs mushrooms, sliced
2 sliced Gardenia loaf bread
choice greens as needed
Steps
In a bowl, combine tuna flakes, corn, mushroom, and Lady's Choice Tuna Spread. Mix well.
Arrange the mixture and greens in between the 2 slices of bread.

PULLED PORK SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 pc burger bun, sliced into half, toasted
200 grams pork barbecue, cooked
1/4 cup Lady's Choice bacon spread
2 tbsps barbecue sauce
2 pcs dill pickles, sliced
2 slices plum tomatoes
3 slices cucumber
Steps
Shred prepared pork barbecue (you may use your leftover). Mix together Lady’s Choice Bacon Spread and barbecue sauce.
Arrange the shredded pork barbecue on the first half of the bun. Top with pickles, tomatoes, and cucumber then cover with the other half of the
bun.
Serving suggestion:  coleslaw served at the side or as additional sandwich filling or grilled vegetables.

CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 pc chicken breast fillet, seasoned
As needed flour
1 pc egg, beaten
As needed panko breadcrumbs
As needed oil for deep frying
2 slices ciabatta, toasted
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
2 pcs lollo rosso lettuce
2 slices plum tomatoes
1 pc chicken fillet
2 slices cucumber
Steps
Dredge chicken fillet in flour, egg, then in breadcrumbs. Deep-fry until brown.
Spread Lady’s Choice Chicken spread on ciabatta. Then arrange lolo rosso, plum tomatoes, chicken fillet and cucumber on one slice of bread and
cover with the other.

CURRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 pc chicken breast fillet
1/4 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 cup yogurt
1 pc white or wheat tortilla wrapper
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
4 pcs lollo rosso lettuce
1/4 cup tomatoes, sliced into strips
1/4 cup cucumber, sliced into strips
Steps
Marinated chicken breast in curry powder, cumin and yogurt then season well. Pan-fry or grill until cooked then cut into small cubes.
Spread Lady’s Choice Chicken Spread on tortilla wrapper. Fill the bottom half of the wrapper with lolo rosso, chicken, tomatoes, and cucumber
then fold the top half to cover. Toast on a d griddle or pan until lightly browned.

GRILLED CHICKEN INASAL SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 pc wheat tortilla wrapper
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
1 tomato, sliced
1 pc onion, sliced
1 pc cucumber, sliced
cooked chicken inasal, deboned and shredded

For the Chicken Inasal: You can use your leftover or make your own by marinating chicken in achuete oil, chopped ginger, lemongrass, garlic,
and seasonings, and grilling it.
Spread Lady’s Choice Chicken Spread on tortilla wrapper. Assemble by placing tomatoes, onion, and cucumber on tortilla wrapper. Add
shredded chicken then toast on a griddle or pan.

ASIAN GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH


Ingredients
1/2 cup sweet soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
salt and pepper (as needed)
2 pc chicken breast fillet
1/8 pc baguette, sliced into half lengthwise, toasted
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
3 pc romaine lettuce
1/2 pc plum tomatoes, sliced
Steps
Mix together sweet soy sauce and sesame oil.
Season chicken breast fillets with salt and pepper. Grill each piece while basting with the sweet soy sauce and sesame oil mixture.
Spread Lady's Choice Chicken Spread on one side of each bread.
Assemble lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled chicken on top of one bread then cover with the other.

DELICIOUS CHICKEN SANDWICH

Ingredients
8 pcs sliced white bread
1 cup boiled, shredded chicken breasts
1/2 cup Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise
2 pcs ripe tomatoes, sliced into rings (optional)
1/2 pc cucumber, thinly sliced (optional)
2 bunches curly leaf lettuce, washed and drained well (optional)
Steps
In a bowl, combine shredded chicken and Lady’s Choice Chicken Spread.
For added veggie goodness, you can fill the sandwiches with 2-3 pcs of lettuce leaves, slices of tomatoes and cucumber and the prepared tuna
spread. Enjoy with a glass of milk and fruit slices!

YUMMY TUNA SANDWICH


Ingredients
8 pcs sliced white bread
1 can tuna flakes in oil, drained
1 (80mL) pack Lady's Choice Real Mayonnaise
1 tbsp chopped white onions
2 pcs ripe tomatoes, sliced into rings
1/2 pc cucumber, sliced thinly (optional)
2 bunches curly lettuce, washed and drained well
Steps
In a bowl, combine, tuna flakes, Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise and chopped onions. Season with salt, pepper and sugar according to taste.
You can take your sandwiches to the next level by filling them with 2-3 pcs of lettuce leaves, slices of tomatoes and cucumber and the prepared
tuna spread mixture. Enjoy with a glass of milk and fruit slices!
MEATY CLUBHOUSE SANDWICH
Ingredients
3 pcs white bread, toasted
4 tbsps Lady's Choice ham spread
6 pcs romaine lettuce, washed and trimmed
4 slices plum tomatoes, sliced into rounds
4 slices cucumber, sliced into rounds
12 pcs bacon, fried until crisp
4 pcs regular, sweet or spiced ham
1 pc egg, cooked sunny side up
4 pcs toothpicks
Steps
Toast the bread slices. Lay 3 pieces of bread and spread a tablespoon of Lady’s Choice Ham Spread on one side of the 1st and 3rd slice, and a
tablespoon on both sides of the 2nd slice of bread evenly.
Top the 1st slice (mayonnaise-side up) with lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon then cover with the 2nd slice. Top with lettuce, cucumber, ham, and egg
then cover with the 3rd slice (mayonnaise-side down).
Press the sandwich lightly then slice into 4 triangular portions. Secure with toothpicks and serve.

KIDDIE CHICKEN NUGGETS SANDWICH


Ingredients
4 tbsps Lady's Choice chicken spread
4 pc chicken nuggets
2 slices Gardenia loaf bread
Choice greens as needed
Steps
Fry chicken nuggets until golden brown.
Spread Lady's Choice Chicken Spread on bread and assemble chicken nuggets and greens between 2
slices.

BACON SANDWICH
Ingredients
2 tbsps Lady's Choice bacon spread
1 pc mini ciabatta, sliced into half, toasted
4 slices bacon, fried until crisp
3 slices tomatoes, sliced
2 slices cheese, sliced
arugula, trimmed
Steps
Evenly spread Lady’s Choice Bacon Spread on 2 sliced of bread.
Layer bacon, tomato, cheese then top with arugula. Cover with the other slice of bread.

MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH


Ingredients
4 tbsps Lady's Choice ham spread
3 slices white bread
2 slices cheddar cheese
2 slices sweet, spiced or glazed ham
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3 tbsps butter
1 tbsp confectioner's sugar
Steps
Spread Lady’s Choice Ham Spread on bread slices then layer cheese, and ham in between. Top with the last slice of bread.
In a shallow dish, mix together egg, milk, and nutmeg. Coat the sandwich with the mixture by dipping all sides.
Melt butter in a pan then add the sandwich. Turn to brown all sides. Dust with confectioner’s sugar before serving.

BREAKFAST SANDWICH
Ingredients
3 tbsps Lady's Choice Bacon Spread
1 pc bacon, fried, chopped
1 pc whole egg, fried
2 slices loaf bread
choice greens as needed
Steps
Spread Lady's Choice Bacon Spread on bread.
Top this with bacon and egg and cover with the other slice
EASY FISH SANDWICH
Ingredients
1 fillet fish, cooked and prepared
1 slice cheese
1 slice tomato
1 piece lettuce
1 hamburger bun
Instructions
Prepare fish fillet according to package directions.
Layer tomato, lettuce and cheese on bun.
Put on fish fillet and top with bun.
Serve and enjoy!

OPEN FACE BEEF SANDWICH


Ingredients
2-3 cups cooked beef roast
1 jar Beef Gravy
4 slices bread
Instructions
In a medium skillet or pot combine beef roast and gravy.
Heat over med-high heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring often so it does not burn.
Place bread slices on plate.
Scoop meat mixture and pour over bread slice.
Serve and enjoy!

ROASTED GARLIC & PEPPERS GRILLED CHEESE


Ingredients
2 slices of bread
1-2 tbsp butter or olive oil
1 Tbsp Mezzetta Savory Garlic Everything Spread
1-2 peppers peppers from Mezzetta Roasted Red Bell Peppers
2 - 3 slices smoked provolone cheese
Instructions
Butter one side of the bread slices and set aside.
Heat skillet over med-high heat.
Once skillet is heated place one bread slice, butter side down into pan.
Spread 1 tbsp Mezzetta Savory Garlic Everything Spread on top pf the bread.
Next place 1-2 peppers from Mezzetta Roasted Red Bell Peppers jar on top of the spread.
Place cheese on top and then place other bread slice on.
Let heat for 2-3 minutes.
Once golden brown carefully flip sandwich over.
Cook another 3-4 minutes and then place on and plate.
Serve and enjoy!

BLT CROISSANT SANDWICH


Ingredients
1 whole croissant sliced
4 pieces cooked bacon use as much as you desire
1 Tbsp mayonnaise optional
1 piece of lettuce
1 slice tomato
Instructions
Spread mayo on croissant slice.
Next layer lettuce, tomato and bacon slices.
Place other croissant slice on top and serve.
SMOKED TURKEY CRANBERRY-ORANGE SANDWICHES
Ingredients
½ cup prepared whole cranberry sauce
½ cup mayonnaise
½ teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
½ pound thinly slices deli smoked turkey
20 slices bread good quality dense bread is best
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine whole cranberry sauce, mayonnaise and freshly grated orange zest.
Cover and refrigerate mixture at least one hour for flavors to blend.
Spread mixture on bread slices.
Top 10 slices of bread with sliced turkey and cover with remaining bread slices to assemble.
Use a sharp serrated knife to remove the bread crusts and cut sandwich into desired shapes.
