How troubling the day was when your mother told you to delete a post you posted on
Facebook!
She doesn’t understand, you may think. THIS is our language now, and gone are her
days when choice of words really mattered.

How troubling that night was when you had to talk to your school principal or even your
subject adviser! You didn’t know how to behave. You didn’t even know what to say!
Ethics, ethics everywhere.
In fact, even in language, we – you and I – follow language, whether or not
unconsciously.

LEMME REMEMBER THIS

It’s a difficult world out there. People judge you based on one mistake you commit, and forget nine good
things you did. One ungrammatical sentence, and you’re out of the group of intellectuals. Surely, you tried
reminding yourself how you should behave during a discourse.

List down three (3) mental notes you told yourself to be mindful of when communicating with others, and give
a one-sentence explanation as to why you think each is pertinent.
