Spear

Spears are two-handed, mostly members-only stabbing weapons,

whereas hastae are one-handed. They deal the same amount of damage
as two-handed swords, halberds and mauls, except that they use the
stabbing style. Spears are the only type of weapon that deal full damage
against the Corporeal Beast, making them the most effective weapons to

Most spears can be obtained as monster drops, purchased from shops, Style Stab
obtained as quest rewards, or smithed on special barbarian anvils after

Trio. The most powerful spear, the Spear of Annihilation, is created
through the Archaeology skill, and can be further upgraded to its masterwork version through the smithing skill. Masuta's
warspear and Laniakea's spear are unique among spears for possessing a 2-square attack range, similar to that of a
halberd.

The normal metal spears can be bought at Warriors' Guild Armoury, and the rune variant can be purchased at Scavvo's
Rune Store. After Tai Bwo Wannai Trio, players can access Tamayu's Spear Stall, although this shop only sells (kp) spears,
which cannot be wielded. A cleaning cloth must be used on these spears to be able to wield or trade them.

Trivia
In RuneScape Classic, spears were ranged weapons and only bronze to rune spears were available. Javelins have
replaced their old function.

When RuneScape 2 was first released, spears originally had an attack delay of 3.6 seconds, equivalent to battleaxes.
With the Barrows update on 9 May 2005, their attack speed was increased to 3.0 seconds, equivalent to longswords. It
was decreased again to 3.6 seconds (now known as "average" speed) with the release of the Evolution of Combat.

Prior to the Evolution of Combat, spears were the only weapons that could attack in all three of the melee styles (slash,
stab, and crush).
