Developing an ICT Project for
3 Social Change

This module discusses how to develop an ICT Project for Social Change covering the
topics of:
• Planning and conceptualizing an ICT Project for Social Change
• Research for ICT Projects, Audience profiling, (demographics and
psychographics)
• Designing and copywriting for ICT Projects
• Developing and constructing the ICT project

Samples of these advocacies or projects include but are not limited to:
• Antidrug campaigns
• Youth election volunteer mobilization
• Animal welfare and rights
• Environmental conservation and action
• Contemporary ICT issues such as cyber bullying, copyright infringement,
green technology, and Internet addiction

your project is feasible in the time span allotted and whether it is substantial enough
to be realized.

Concept Paper
• It is a paper designed to persuade a panel of potential funders to assist in the
development of a product, program, or service.

1. Introduction
o This section contains your mission and vision, as well as a brief
description of your project or campaign.

2. Purpose
o This should contain why your project/campaign is worth your
sponsor's time, effort, and money.

3. Description
• This part contains all of the project's pertinent information. It
entails the website(s) or page(s) you intend to create, as well as the
purpose of each and how they interact.

4. Support
• Although some concept papers do not include any sum asked from
the sponsor, this section contains the budget required for the
project.

5. Contact Information
• This section offers contact information for the group.

Your project/campaign must met the SMART criteria:

1. Planning
• This involves the following tasks:
o Conceptualizing your project
o Researching on available data about your topic
o Setting deadlines and meetings
o Assigning people to various tasks

o Finding a web or blog host
o Creating a site map for your website
o Listing down all applications that you need including web
apps
o Funding (if applicable)
2. Development
• It entails the actual development of the website(s) / page, which
includes the creation of photographs, infographics, and other
materials.
3. Release and Promotion
• It entails the actual publication and advertising of the website /
page to the general public. Promotion usually begins prior to the
introduction of the product.
4. Maintenance
• It involves responding to feedback of your website / page visitors
and continuing to improve the website/page.

As you manage your page, you will encounter different behaviors of people in Social
Media. According to Rebecca Dye, a social media manager at First Direct, there are 12
Different Behaviors in Social Media.

1. The Ultras
a. Check feeds dozens of times a day. Happily, admit their obsession. (14% of
Facebook users spend at least 2 hours a day on the network)
2. The Deniers
a. Social media do not control their lives but gets anxious when unable to access
networks. (20% of Facebook users would feel anxious or isolated if they had
to deactivate their accounts.
3. The Virgins
a. Taking first tentative steps in social media (19% of British people don’t use
any social networks)
4. The Peacocks
a. Popularity contest, high numbers of followers, fans, likes and retweets. (1 out
of 10 Twitter users want more followers than friends.)
5. The Lurkers
a. Hiding in the shadows of cyberspace. Watches what others are saying, but
rarely (if ever) participate themselves. (45% of Facebook users described
themselves as “observers”)
6. The Ranters
a. Mock and mid in face-to-face conversations. Highly opinionated online.
7. The Changelings
a. Adopt completely new personality online so no one knows their real identities.
8. The Ghosts
a. Create anonymous profiles, for fear of giving out personal information to
strangers.

a. Seek admiration by being the first to share the latest trends with audiences.

1. Think of your group’s advocacy. Choose any topic related to your SHS Strand and then
create a CONCEPT PAPER of your advocacy following the steps on your module. Send a
soft copy of your concept paper to your EmTech Group Chat to be submitted next
module retrieval.

2. Create a poster of your advocacy to be attached on your Concept Paper.

3. Once your Concept Paper has been checked and approved by your teacher, create a
Facebook Page of your advocacy.
