E- Recruitment
The E-Recruitment, also called as Online Recruitment, is the process of hiring
the potential candidates for the vacant job positions, using the electronic
resources, particularly the internet.
Nowadays, companies make use of the internet to reach a large number of job
seekers and hire the best talent for the company at a less cost, as compared to
the physical recruitment process.

E-Recruitment includes the entire process of finding the prospective candidates,

assessing, interviewing and hiring them, as per the job requirement. Through this,
the recruitment is done more effectively and efficiently.

Generally, the job vacancies are advertised on the world wide web (www), where
the applicants attach their CV or resume, to get recognized by the potential
recruiters or the employers.

The companies undertake their online promotional activities via their official
websites, wherein the complete information about the corporation is enclosed.
Through this information, the prospective candidate could decide whether to be a
part of a firm or not. Thus, the firm’s official website is considered to be an
essential element of E-Recruitment.
The origin of the term e-recruitment is similar to e-commerce. E-commerce
clearly delineates online retail sales from the brick-and-mortar market. But that's
not true for job advertising and recruiting because virtually all recruiting today is
conducted online.

For sure, there is still paper-based, classified job advertising, as well as job ads
that appear on billboards, in subways and buses, and on signs posted in store
windows. But these are narrower recruitment marketing activities that often
provide a website for more information about a job. For people that walk in the
door seeking work, larger retailers may have kiosks for these applicants.

Online recruitment dominates this market today and all the products in the
recruiting space have some role in managing, automating, tracking and analyzing
candidates and job data from online sources.

What are the steps of the e-recruitment process?

E-recruitment includes all steps of your standard recruitment process that
involve the use of web-based technology. Here are some important e-
recruitment steps:

 Post job ads on online job boards.

 Seek employee referrals through your Applicant Tracking System

(ATS.)

 Source candidates on professional social media or portfolio sites.

 Administer online pre-employment tests.

 Interview candidates using video interviewing software.

 Conduct background checks through a provider that your ATS

integrates with
The two kinds of e-recruitment that an organization can use is:
Job Portals:
Posting the position with the job description and the job specification on the
job portal and also searching for the suitable resumes posted on the site
corresponding to the opening in the organization.

2. Creating a complete online recruitment/application section in the company’s

own website. Companies have added an application system to its website,
where the ‘passive’ job seekers can submit their resumes into the database of
the organisation for consideration in future, as and when the roles become
available.

Advantages of E-Recruitment
 Low cost per candidate, as compared to the physical recruitment process.

 Wide geographical coverage, i.e. the candidates can be hired from any part
of the world.

 Beneficial for both the employer and the job seeker, the corporations can
find the prospective candidates through their CVs attached to world wide
web, and similarly, the candidates can search the employer through their
job vacancy advertisement posted on the internet.

 Less time required in hiring the potential candidate for the firm.

 Right people for the right job can be easily found through E-Recruitment,
by matching the candidate’s CVs with the job profile.
Disadvantages
As you have seen above; there are many benefits to using e-recruitment,
however, there are a few disadvantages as well.
Here are some of the main disadvantages of using e-recruitment:

Difficult to measure its efficiency

Not all e-recruitment systems offer an in-depth analysis of your job

postings therefore, it can be hard to figure out what is and isn’t working
and what you can improve.

Attracts fraudulent applications.

Some competitors may use fraudulent applications to get information

about your company or the HR manager. And, you can receive spam
messages from people who want to promote a service or product to your
company.

Too informal

For executive roles, some companies believe that online job postings,
especially on social media, can give off a negative image. Therefore, if you
are looking for someone to find a qualified person to fill in this position, we
would recommend advertising the job board in a reputable recruiting
company and not on social media.
What are the top 3 e-recruitment systems?
After comparing many e-recruitment systems, here are 3 of them that we
recommend using:

Recruiterbox is an applicant tracking software that provides tools to collect,
parse, search, and manage resumes. With Recruiterbox, you will be able to
skip the manual upload process and automatically collect resumes from
your email attachments.
Moreover, all of the data on your candidates is stored in one central
management system, ensuring that none of your candidates falls through
the cracks. Its dashboard will save you time and tell you where each of your
candidates is in the hiring process.

selection process, whether they are other managers or potential future
colleagues of the person applying for the position.
Comeet is a collaborative recruiting software that lets employees and
recruiters work together to identify the ideal candidates for their teams.
Comeet connects everything involved with recruiting. This includes all the

recruiting teammates.

promoting jobs, recruiting talent or tracking candidates, Recruitee helps

Forms of Online Promotion for Recruitment

An email/message list

Interested people sign up to hear about vacancies as and when they arise. This
is an excellent, targeted way of getting out information to those who have
already stated an interest, however the recruitment market changes very
quickly and an email/message list can be out of date quickly.
Social media

Facebook, Twitter and so forth can be excellent tools for disseminating news
about a job vacancy and providing a link to more information. However, with
the appropriate infrastructure in place in the form of 2,000– 5,000 followers as
a minimum, any such news is going to be slow to spread. Simply putting
something on social media is not achieving anything at all unless it is
disseminated well by those followers.
Online jobs listings

There are now, with perhaps only a small exaggeration, nearly as many online
lists of job vacancies as there are vacancies themselves. They have become a
popular way of raising advertising revenue and are regularly promoted through
social media. Many need to be treated with caution however, as they are as
keen to entice users to click on their external advertisements and links as they
are for them to click on their actual job vacancy advertisements.
Website

For recruitment, the website is the ideal place to make available all the
documentation and information prospective candidates need. They can also be
the place where applications are registered and forms are completed.
However, they are only the information source, promotion to get people to
that website is far more important.
