MAKE-UP PRINTERS

Introduction
The product I'd like to create is a beauty printer that will allow clients to do their makeup
in a matter of minutes. Customers should only wash their faces to ensure that they are clean
before utilising this machine and then place their faces inside it. This printer will recognise a
person's facial form and then allow clients to load the machine with the normal amount of each
cosmetics product. This technology consists of fibres and a silver alloy body that is light and
portable. This is a one-of-a-kind product that will suggest and apply particular cosmetics looks
using artificial intelligence and a built-in operating system. Every idea requires finance and a
team with the experience to turn it into a working product, which is why Loreal has agreed to
manufacture this product. L'Oréal S.A. is a French cosmetics firm based in Clichy, Hauts-de-
Seine, with a registered office in Paris. It is the world's largest cosmetics corporation, with
operations in the fields of hair colour, skincare, sun protection, make-up, perfume, and hair care.
In Pakistan, Loreal is the most popular cosmetics brand. The product development process
includes all processes involved in bringing a product from concept to market. This includes
identifying a market need, researching the competitive landscape, conceptualizing a solution,
developing a product roadmap, building a minimum viable product, etc.

There are many stages involved in the development of a product. The first phase is to
focus on the idea generation that involves the explanation of the idea, what is the product? What
is the purpose of it? Once the idea is generated it is important to check its internal and external
feasibility in order to ensure the validation of the product and whether they need to exist or not?
Whether people will pay for it or not? What is the target market for this product? [ CITATION
Cla15 \l 1033 ] Therefore, it is important to first conduct market research to make sure that the
product we are creating has the demand and a gap exists in the market for it. Otherwise, we will
just be wasting time, money, and effort on an idea that would not even sell.

The product I'd like to create is a beauty printer that will allow clients to do their makeup
in a matter of minutes. Customers should only wash their faces to ensure that they are clean
before utilising this machine and then place their faces inside it. This printer will recognise a

cosmetics product. Once the quantity has been entered, the machine is ready to use, and
consumers can simply choose the sequence in which the beauty items will be applied to their
faces to achieve the desired look. This type of product is in high demand. According to a recent
survey performed by the Today programme in collaboration with AOL, women spend about 55
minutes each day on makeup on average[ CITATION Jud14 \l 1033 ]. This printer can cut your
printing time in half. In Pakistan, women make up about 48% of the population, and almost
every woman has done makeup at least once in her life. As a result, if manufactured in the near
future, this product has enormous potential and demand.

Need for the product

Color cosmetics are cosmetics that are used to enhance one's appearance and are a matter of
personal preference. This category includes items for facial make-up, lip care, eye make-up, and
nail care. Retail locations, online platforms, and exclusive brand shops all carry these things. The
awareness of one's appearance is one of the primary elements driving this industry. People are
becoming more aware of the availability of halal cosmetics, which is driving up demand for
colour cosmetics. Animal testing is prohibited in halal cosmetics, and they are also breathable.
They allow water to pass through the skin and nails, providing chastity before prayers and
therefore swaying customer preferences towards the market[ CITATION Aaq21 \l 1033 ]. Because of
the increased usage of smartphones and internet penetration, social media has a big impact on
increasing consumer awareness and exposure to accessible colour cosmetics. As a result, the
demand for colour cosmetics is boosted. Celebrity endorsements of colour cosmetics in Pakistan
appeal to a wider audience since Pakistani customers identify with their heroes, which
encourages them to buy the goods, boosting sales and contributing to the market's growth. Even
nowadays, we can witness teenaged girls in Pakistan wearing cosmetics at school parties or
private events. They prefer to use only the most basic colour cosmetics on their face and
nails[ CITATION Haj \l 1033 ]. This reason may contribute to the expansion of the Pakistani colour
cosmetics market, as these adolescents were previously prohibited from wearing make-up. But
nowadays wearing make has become an integral part of the culture especially in big cities.
According to experts, the Pakistan colour cosmetics industry is predicted to emerge as one of the
top beauty markets in the near future, thanks to a surge in middle-class spending power and
increased consumer awareness of beauty brands, their products, and ingredients.

Colour cosmetics in Pakistan are categorized by application and target market. It is divided into
four categories based on how it is used: facial make-up, lip cosmetics, eye makeup, and nail
goods[ CITATION All21 \l 1033 ]. It is divided into Prestige Products and Mass Products depending
on the intended market. Once the quantity is added, the machine is good to go and customers can
simply select the order of the makeup products to be applied onto their face in order to get the
look they desire.

How this product is going to be made?

The product development process includes all processes involved in bringing a product
from concept to market. This involves things like recognising a market need, investigating the
competitive landscape, envisioning a solution, creating a product roadmap, and designing a
minimal viable product, among other things. The creation of a product goes through several
stages. The first phase focuses on idea generation, which includes explaining the concept and
defining the product. What exactly is the point of it? Once an idea has been produced, it is
critical to assess its internal and external feasibility in order to guarantee that the product is
genuine and whether it is required. Whether or not people will pay for it? What is this product's
target market?[ CITATION Cla15 \l 1033 ] Therefore, it is important to first conduct market research
to make sure that the product we are creating has the demand and a gap exists in the market for
it. Otherwise, we will just be wasting time, money, and effort on an idea that would not even sell.

After we've passed this stage, we'll go on to the planning step, where we'll figure out how to
transform this concept into a real product, such as what features this product will have. What will
this product's appearance be like? How will it work? Will it be user-friendly as well as
environmentally friendly? To begin, a hand-drawn sketch is the finest way to go thoroughly into
the specifics of a product. Once that's done, we'll create a porotype of the product to assist
market testing. We'll decide whether or not to go on with large-scale production based on the
outcomes of these experiments. However, because prototyping normally entails testing with
numerous versions of your idea, gradually removing alternatives and making adjustments until
you are satisfied with a final example, it may take more than one effort. Finally, after we have a
product prototype that we are happy with, it is time to commercialise and roll out the product,
which means launching it into the market with extensive promotional efforts to entice buyers to
buy it. There is high demand for such products. According to a recent survey performed by the
Today programme in collaboration with AOL, women spend about 55 minutes each day on
makeup on average. This printer can cut your printing time in half. In Pakistan, women make up
about 48% of the population, and almost every woman has done makeup at least once in her life.
As a result, if manufactured promptly, this product has enormous potential and demand.

Who is going to make this product?

Every idea needs funding and a team that has the expertise to successfully convert the
idea into the actual product thus, Loreal is going to make this product. L'Oréal S.A. is an
international personal care company headquartered in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine with a registered
office in Paris. It is the world's largest cosmetics company and has developed activities in the
field concentrating on hair colour, skincare, sun protection, make-up, perfume, and hair care.
Loreal is also the largest makeup seller in Pakistan. As its products are sold in every cosmetic
store in Pakistan. Loreal is valued at 29.87 billion euros. Therefore, it can afford Research and
Development for this makeup printer. They have qualified staff, researchers and cosmetic
chemists who can assist in the development of this makeup printer. Since cosmetics chemists are
the formulators who mix raw materials to create cosmetic products so they are in a better
position to help in the designing and functioning of this product. Mechanical engineers are also
required to design the complete structure of it such as the shape of the product, the scanners it
will use to detect the user’s face, the sprayers and blenders that will be required which will
directly spray makeup and blend it over the skin. In addition, artists will also provide their
opinions which will eventually help in designing the most effective layout of this product.
Functionality

A built-in operating system will work using a cell phone application that will be available
for Android and IOS. Many default settings and presets will be installed in the app, and the user
will be able to apply cosmetics on their face with just a few clicks. All that is required of the user
is to select and lock in the desired setting. After that, the user will place his or her face in the
printer's face cavity, and the process will begin in 13 steps. Moisturize, primer, foundation,
concealer, powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lips gloss are
the steps to follow. For all of the preceding processes, the user can alternatively select manual
settings. The app will receive regular updates and adjustments according to the trend and the
whole process will be completed in 15 minutes.

Target market and standout point

As mentioned earlier there is a huge demand for colour cosmetic products in the market and
millions of females are using them on regular basis. But current methods of wearing makeup take
a lot of time and effort, still many people are not satisfied with the desired outcome due to lack
of skill. Many different products must be put on with specific amounts to give a beautiful look to
the person wearing them. On average it takes 40 to 50 minutes to wear makeup [ CITATION Jud14 \l
1033 ]. As it includes a lot of selection of colours, foundations, etc. Make a printer will remove
this time-intensive labour. As it would take only 15 minutes to put on the makeup with it. Buying
cosmetics is time-intensive and expensive. The printer will be able to produce over a million
different colour tones, which will reduce the need to buy a lot of expensive cosmetics.

People who use cosmetics, salons, and makeup artists are the key target market. Billboards,
internet sales, and celebrity endorsements will all be part of the marketing push. For the product,
we'll utilise a price skimming pricing technique, which involves setting the highest feasible price
that the client is prepared to pay and then revising it based on market response.

Conclusions
 Makeup printers will be made of fibre and silver alloy which will be lightweight.
 It will provide perfect make-up using artificial intelligence and digital operating system.
 It will be time saving and affordable.
 Cosmetic consumers and salons are the target market.
 Price skimming will be used as a pricing strategy
