Q2-18 Is Facebook’s mission statement market oriented? Explain.
Facebook’s mission statement is market oriented because: A market-oriented mission statement
is a mission for satisfying customer needs and the mission should focus on customers and the
customer experience as the face book mission is “to give people the power to share and make the
world more open and connected”
So face book does not express themselves as an online social network, but their mission focusing
on: people and satisfying their needs which are connecting with others Facebook’s mission is to
give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected “Their mission
focused on People and the use of Facebook to stay connected with friends and family, to
discover what’s going on in the world, and to share and express what matters to them. It also
emphasized company’s strengths by making the word more open and connected and explained
how it intends to win by offering one platform to connect users from all over the world it outlines
not only the basic need but also it highlights how it differs from other competitors and clearly
stating its strengthens “connecting and sharing”. As well as clarifying future objective that
includes long term customer empowering methodology.
Q2-20 Is it wise for Facebook to give away it technology for free? Why or why
not?
Yes, because it is technology application and not software program that should be to sell, it made
to make all the people connected to each other it is difficult to sell it to all the people so if it was
by money not all the people will buy it. It wants to stay focused on its mission, away from
further diversifying its portfolio, if it sells its techniques it will enter new market and that
contradicts with its primary mission now as it already knows it entered lost time While Sharing
Facebook's code (it’s "stack," and occasionally its hardware designs) accelerates innovation in
the world. And that helps others move faster. Because Facebook isn't a software company, it

faces no competitive threat by doing this. Instead, the value accrues back to them. Users can
build apps more quickly and Facebook can benefit from the improvements that others make to
their code. Embracing open source means that Facebook just writes better software in the first
place. If the company knows something will be open from the start, it just builds it better so that
it can be more accessible and dependable because it's going to be used in the outside world. This
makes it more valuable internally as well. Open source provides opportunities to share
challenges. It attracts the interest of people who want to work on these challenges, and as a result
it helps improve the quality of the company's staff. Facebook connects more than a billion people
every day, and they can only do this because of open source. Yes it’s wise to give its technology
for free.
