 Assembly Instructions
Preparation
1. Cut sheets of MDF/Plywood and the Base Cabinet Sides Jig. Identify pieces
by name, indicate side and direction. Mark one side of the jig as side 'A'.
Warning! The jig uses a router leaving 3” of material from bit cut to fence.
Adjust jig measurements to your router cut accordingly.
2. Drill holes in pieces as indicated.
a. Rack Unit (RU) Stop pilot holes in Desk RU Shelf and the Desk Top.
b. Center a RU Bracket 3/4" from front edge of Speaker Riser Sides to mark
and drill pilot holes. (Varies according to hardware)
c. Drawer slider pilot holes in Desk Sides. (Varies according to hardware)
d. T-nut Assembly pilot holes in Base Cabinet Sides.
e. Optional: Use self adhesive feet under Desk assembly and QWERTY
Support or drill peg holes in Base Cabinet Tops and the underside of the
Desk Sides as indicated to prevent misalignment during use.
3. Hole saw Desk RU Shelf, QWERTY Table Support, Desk Back and Base
Tops and remove material between hole saw cuts as indicated.
4. Dado pockets (0.375" x 1.625") for neodymium magnets into the QWERTY
Table and the QWERTY Table Support. Make the depth of the dado 0.125”
deeper than the thickness of the magnets.
5. Prepare the neodymium magnets. Use Caution... highly magnetic!
a. Snap 5 magnets side by side on a flat non-ferrous surface. Using thin clear
tape, wrap the 5 magnets. Create 12 bundles of 5 magnets.
b. Snap the bundles side by side to create a rectangular grid of 5 x 12.
c. Mark each bundle with an alternating '+' and '-' symbol.
Speaker Riser Assembly
1. Assemble Speaker Riser components using ample glue and fasteners. The
speaker risers are ready for finishing.
2. Fasten RU Brackets into the speaker risers.
Base Cabinet Assembly
1. Round off the inner front corners of the Base Cabinet Tops and finish.
Assembly Instructions Continued
2. Clamp the jig onto the Base Cabinet Side Sets as indicated*. Use your
router to cut out the four sections.
*Triple check to be certain the T-nut pilot hole is on the narrow side of the jig
and be certain the 32" edge of the Base Cabinet Side Set is flush with the jig
and completely covered.
3. Lay one of the Base Cabinet Sides over the 1 x 6 board flush to the top and
front edge to mark and cut legs to length. Drill T-nut Assembly holes in Base
Cabinet Legs as indicated.
4. Cut out the additional Base Cabinet Leg components from the jig and
remaining 1/8" MDF. Assemble and finish the Base Cabinet Legs.
5. Cut* the narrower inner Base Cabinet Sides front edge to the angle as
indicated. Round off the lower corners of the 4 Base Cabinet Sides. The
base cabinet sides are ready for finishing.
*Option: If there is no rack mounted gear in need of space and the front edge
is not cut, one can build drawers, shelves or doors for the cabinets.
6. Attach the Base Cabinet Sides to the Base Cabinet Legs using the T-nut
assembly. Attach the Base Kick Stop with gusset brackets and fasten feet.
7. Attach the Base Cabinet assembly to the Base Cabinet Top with remaining
gussets leaving a 1" overhang on the 3 outer sides.
Desk Assembly
1. Attach RU Spacers onto Desk RU Shelf using ample glue and fasteners.
2. Optional. Attach Extension Desk Support onto Desk RU Shelf.
2. Using ample glue and fasteners attach Desk Sides flush to Desk RU Shelf
then to Desk Back, attach assembly to Desk Top with a flush front and 1"
overhang on 3 sides. The desk unit is ready for finishing.
3. Tap the four 3” pins (RU stops) into pilot holes located in the Desk RU Shelf
and Desk Top.
4. Inlay 6 magnet bundles marked with the '+' symbol facing out from the
dadoes in the QWERTY Table. Immerse magnet bundles in epoxy. The
QWERTY table is ready for finishing.
5. Inlay the remaining 6 magnet bundles marked with the '-' symbol facing out
from the dadoes in the QWERTY Table Support. Immerse magnet bundles in
epoxy. The table support is ready for finishing.
6. Fasten drawer slides to desk assembly and QWERTY Table.
