INTRODUCTION
With fast growing internet companies around and a globally open world
economy ,there has been no better time to study or to graduate in any
discipline in India. I understand the world is facing an unseen crisis in
the form of Covid and we will see recession for some period but it will
be temporary. Economy will rebound and scale up from the previous
level and there will be demand for highly skilled professionals in all the
fields ,so just prepare yourself for an exciting time and career ahead .

I meet a lot of students who think once you have picked a
specialisation then it's very difficult to change career path .Well with
proper planning and counselling you can start or switch to any career
of choice . India is slowly moving towards knowledge based hiring from
degree based hiring . This means if you acquired the skills required for
any role then then degree will not matter .

I somehow feel after picking specializations like English Hons ,
Economics, Arts , BBA etc they get lost in the sea of uncertainty and
most of them lag behind other specializations like engineering ,
Management etc. Similarly after picking engineering many candidates
realise they are more interested in Fine Arts ,Fashion,Writing
,Management Role .Thus In many cases many students don’t end up in
a career path which is not inline as per their aspirations .Specialization
students pick is mostly based on impulse ,peer pressure ,lack of
information and sometimes misguidance of senior or counsellors etc


In this book, I will take you through various career options which are
not dependent on degree and any graduate student can pursue and
stay ahead in their career. I have worked with candidates in most of the
mentioned domains and understand the knowledge and skills which
you need to develop to enter and excel in various roles. Like the US
and Europe India is also moving towards knowledge-based hiring rather
than education degree-based hiring.
The primary reason is demand in these high skill Industries and the lack

Note : This is the best time to study or graduate from college

temporary covid corona crisis in 2020 . We will surely get back on track

CAREER IN CONTENT PR COMMUNICATION
I will broadly include a career in content writing, communication,
corporate communication ,PR in this category. Content is the
easiest career to start without any further investment in education.
Content writing is the process of planning, writing web content for
digital platforms mostly for digital marketing. It broadly included
blog articles,news stories, etc .sales copy, e-books, social media
content etc.

Qualification: Anyone with BA /Bcom /BSC /Engineering or
Management can enter the field of content writing and PR
Communication . Higher education is not mandatory in fact many
are working with undergraduate degrees and doing exceptionally
well in these fields . High Grades are not necessary, only a
requirement is to develop the art of writing .

Key Skills Required to be a successful content writer are :

● Be Social Media Enthusiast
● Be Original
● Understand different writing style: Be it Blogs, Article or
20-30 Words Social Media Post

● Good at SEO: Do a bit research on Google Youtube for the
same

writing on current issues, events, fashion, sports,
entertainment
● Language Skills: Work on your fundamentals exp
Grammer. You just need to go back to your textbook.

The biggest issue I have seen with the content writers is they are
stuck at the same level for a very long time. They are not
challenging their writing skills and take the next move into PR
Communications .

● Identifying the niche area for which you want to write:
Health Fashion, Travel , Technology, etc
● Start writing articles on 1-2 Niches topics: Create your own
Blog Site or use free Wordpress website for all your blogs

Articles with over 500 Words this will help you to improve
your writing skills.
● Build a strong portfolio of at least 20-30 Articles.

companies which pay maximum salaries to content
writers /PR Communication. Understand the article
/press release flow , content , structure etc and follow
that style
● You can create your own dummy writing for these
companies and keep it as a sample in your blog
website

Once you have explored the initial 1 Year of Content writing
then you will easily get a good role in corporate. Always
highlight your blog website link whenever you are applying for
a job or internship. If you are in your final year of college you
can take a freelancing role. Pick your domain very carefully if
you are looking to work with Swiggy Zomato Flipkart
Makemytrip content will be different. If you are looking for IBM
, Microsoft, etc content will be Tech related (very easy to get
into it ) .

Don't get just stuck into the content writing role of long
explore more . Another exciting career option in the content
domain will be PR Communication (Public Relations ) .

CAREER IN DESIGN

It was time not long ago when talking about being an artist or painter
was considered to be an insecure and low career option, in fact it was
considered to be an unsustainable career option. But with the rise of
technology and new age internet companies, an exciting career option
has come up in the last 5-6 years. This field is called Design
Specialisation and it covers broadly: UX Design User Experience Design,
Graphics Designs , UX Research . You can include a career in VFX and
Animation also in the same category. UX Design is very very high paying
category and Graphic Design is bit in the lower side as compared to UX
Design

Qualification: Anyone in BA (Fine Arts ) BA (Eco /English) Bcom BSC ,
Engineering B CA MCA BBA MBA etc can enter this field.
Higher education is not mandatory. High Grades are not necessary, you
should have interest and skills in designing (No one will evaluate you on
marksheet but based on design skills and portfolio)

Don't be surprised to see people with BA / Bcom Degree working with
UBER , Swiggy, Myntra, Jio ,Oracle etc and excelling in design careers .
Engineering Students are also working in top product companies in the
Design Industry . One of the primary reasons is skills are easy to
acquire and not degree dependent . Secondly Design schools like NID
IIT-Mdes Program have very limited seats and are not able to fulfill

UX Design User Experience Design: UX designer is involved
with the entire process of acquiring and integrating a product,
aspects of branding, design, usability, and function .UX design
focuses on the interaction between human users (like us) and
websites, apps etc .UX involves a user’s perception and
interaction with products like websites and apps.UX designers
study and evaluate how users feel about a system,UX
Designers have distinct p ersonalities. They’re intellectual,
inquisitive,curious,methodical, rational, analytical, and logical.
they are also artistic, meaning they’re creative, intuitive,
