Internet is the biggest network of computers and it is the network of networks. It is also called as
interconnection of computer networks. It is used as one of the primary means to share
information or variety of data from one system to another system located on different remote
places or at same place.
It is a combination of personal computers, mainframes, cell phones and many more electronic
devices. Internet provides many different services for different category people and is easily
accessible from anywhere with minimum requirements.

• Benefits of Internet:
Following are some of the benefits of internet:
1. Internet connection and thus, social networking sites like Facebook, twitter, Instagram,
What’s App, Telegram and many more help them to stay connected all the time with their
family and friends. Thus, by using all these internet facilities and features students at
remote areas or colleges feel relaxed, comfortable and attached with their keens and
relatives.
2. Student’s daily lives and existence are defined by interaction with their social networks.
They also use the internet for watching online tutorials, lectures or the live videos of their
professors if they missed out any lecture or a class.
3. Teens are fond of playing online games and watching movies, porn or vulgar stuff on the
internet.

• Risks associated with the internet:

Internet connection and social networking sites like Facebook, twitter, Instagram, What’s App
Telegram and many more helping the people to stay connected all the time with their family and
friends. Thus, by using all these internet facilities and features people and students working or
studying at remote areas or colleges feel relaxed, comfortable and attached with their keens and
relatives. But, all such habits and activities done all the time are affecting the individual’s health,
behavior and culture of the society on a large scale.
• Minimizing the risks related with technology:
Certain strict and legal actions are required to be taken to reduce the dependency of the people
on the internet connection. These actions will help in posing less imminent danger and threat to
our survival and are necessary for the betterment of the individual, society and the country.
Following are the actions or steps that can be taken to restrict the uncontrolled use of internet:
1. Children under age 8 years should not be allowed to access the internet and use
computers and after age 8 they are allowed to use the computer and access internet but in
the parent’s supervision. This will help the parents to know what their children are doing
on internet then make sure that their children are not becoming internet addict.
2. New educational programs, conferences and seminars should start in schools to
discourage the obsessive use of internet in the students. In these programs and seminars
students should tell about the bad effects of internet on their brains and thinking skill.
This will help in preventing other students and children to use the internet in uncontrolled
manner.
3. Adopting habits of reading novels, journals and science novels magazines can attack the
common use of internet and improve creative thinking.

• If a person chooses not to use the technology then the life can be affected to the major extent.
In the lack of this service or facility one would not be able to do some of the popular features or
activities provided by the internet.

Following are the uses of internet that would be suffered if a person do not use the
technology:
1. Communication: It is one of the most popular internet activities that help the people to
exchange email, chats and to do discussions or debates with people at remote places.
2. Shopping is also one of the facilities provided by an internet. Online shopping, widow
shopping and looking for the latest fashions is growing at a faster rate and is gaining
popularity among the people nowadays.
3. Searching as one of the activities of the internet used for finding the information or news
of the whole world. By exploring this facility people can access libraries, can get
information about currents affairs, local and international events. But it is not used as a
primary means of using the internet.
It is the duty of both the government and the customer to determine and take the proper
actions if the benefits of a new technology are outweighing the potential risks.
