Background:

 Flipkart is an Indian e-Commerce company, it’s headquarter is in Bangalore, Karnataka, India and
incorporated in Singapore as a private limited company.
 Company is founded by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal in the year 2007, both are the alumni of Indian
Institute of Technology, Delhi
 The company initially focused on selling books online before expanding their inventory into other
products categories such as fashion, home essentials, consumer electronics, groceries, and lifestyle
products.
 Flipkart as of now only serves in India.
 Flipkart is an Indian Company and personally I have been using from a long time, moreover, its widely
popular across India. Researching on Flipkart would be interesting and as well as I will get to know
about its market pattern and its business strategy.

Organization’s Problem:
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic Flipkart is facing problems like:
1. Due to continuous lockdown in various parts of India, delivery of products, manufacturing of goods
and operations in warehouse has halted resulting into loss of time and money.
2. Company has seen an increase in cart abandonment on the website.
3. Due to increase in website traffic, customers are facing inconvenience and its taking more time to
resolve the queries.
4. Delay in deliveries of goods and daily needs is leading to more order cancellations and is impacting
the company values.

Company’s Data Plan Overview:

Data Collection Sources: Data would be collected from external and internal sources for the
comprehensive analysis of the business problem and to resolve the problems in effective manner.

Public Sector:
 Flipkart user surveys
 Company will reach out the state governments for special permissions to operate in covid zone to
maximize the sales and profits
 Will collect data of the registered sells for more genuine products and quality assessment.
 Unstructured data generated from social media platforms, websites and apps.
 Trending hotspots in the various regions to build and train the AI models for better recommendations
to the user.

Process Capability –

 Data collected from government would be legit and company can trust the process. Also real time
user surveys and reviews would be first hand data which will give direct insights of the customers, as
well as data from registered sellers of flipkart would be authentic and genuine as they have to abide
by the companies policies and ethics.
 As Flipkart uses its own Flipkart Data Platform to ingest the data for sentiment analysis, real time
data streaming, text mining and exploratory data analysis, which shows tremendous capability to
handle the problem effectively.

Stability –
 Flipkart Data Platform works on top of Hadoop and tech stack comprises of such as HDFS, Hive,
Yarn, Spark and other API services supporting the meta layer data. Also FDP can be broken into
following configuration:
1. Ingestion System
2. Batch Data Processing
3. Real time Processing System
4. Report Visualization
5. Query Platform
Above structure of Flipkart data processing with coherence of CAP provides complete stability and
improved efficiency in the data.

Predicting Outcome –
 Improvised data collection plan will result in better results and quality data analysis to further
enhance the Flipkart business solutions.

Private Sector:
 Data from within the organization is crucial in performance of the company, flipkart would collect
the employee surveys.

Process Capability – Internal data collected will help company to analyse the capability of skills with
current market demand. Also it will help them to hire potential candidate those who are fit for the role and as
per the current business problem and market demand.

Stability – As the data would be collected within the organization and it would be processed under the
Flipkart Data Platform , it can be accounted for stability.

Predicting outcomes - Internal data will provide crucial information regarding the employees skills and
performance which will help the company to upscale the employees and make them fit for the role.
